This is an incredible series of breakthroughs! I can hardly believe how little attention this has gotten,,, and that I'm only finding out about it now! Great work NASA and Tiffany!

I am an advanced material reinforcement engineer in composite, twisting, braiding, knitting, weaving, fabrics etc. I pioneered many techniques and technologies used today and have advanced research and products that have not hit the market yet.

The orientational alignment of CNT into a continuous filament fiber vs the less superior staple “hybrids” is key to forming a proper continuous filament nanotube yarn for advanced fiber reinforcement with superior characteristics in each application. We faced the same challenges with early production and process applications during our research and development of aramids in the late 1960’s ie DuPont’s Kevlar©, Nomex© etc. for advanced material reinforcement. A CNT hybrid staple is not an efficient or cost practical use of CNT. The braid angle is known as pics per inch or pics per centimeters.

So does this mean mass production of CNT's has been sorted? Last I read it wasnt scaling well...

The USA 🇺🇸 is way behind China on the mass manufacturing and application adaptation of CNT. The USA textile fiber and conversion industry has been decimated by NAFTA and other unfair trade practices with China and other countries around the World. Those that lead in CNT technology will rule the World. It’s that important.

Imagine lightweight hydrogen tanks made from carbon nanotubes! We could finally have zero emission long range aircraft (as long as fuel cells keep getting better).

why not ask President Joe Biden to fund the research on carbon nanotube transistors chips to shrink the time gap instead of 5-10 years 1-2 years.
