NASCAR Adds TNT & Amazon in New $8 Billion TV Deal!

NASCAR President Steve Phelps hosted a press conference in Nashville officially announcing the sports historic new media rights deal worth almost $8 billion.
The contract adds TNT Sports and Amazon Prime to existing partners FOX Sports & NBC Sports.

It does not cost you no f****** $500 a month to watch Amazon prime and max And you don't need to have them all year round. The races that are on max are also on TNT. Amazon is less than $10 a month for non-prime subscribers and you can cancel that after the 5 races

To me the big story is every Xfinity race will be on the CW - first time every event of a nationwide sport will be broadcast on free-to-air television as far as I'm aware. Hopefully Prime and Max will let NASCAR run some of those summer races on Saturday nights.

Most other national sports have many more games all at the same time. If you add up all trucks, xfinity, and cup races still far fewer than 1 MLB team plays. Close to what each NBA team plays.

NASCAR has a KZbin channel. The channel has every race from the top 3 series from the last several years. Its free. Gotta wait 2-4 days after the checkered flag to watch though. This has worked for me the last couple years. I have 0 friends now that watch NASCAR. No spoliers. Prior to 2010 ALL my close friends (~20 people) watched NASCAR.

I’ve looked but never found it. I may have to configure. VPN to a US provider. I’ll have to try that and see.

Why not offer a streaming option in addition to the major networks at the same time? If I cant turn on my local NBC, CBS, ABC etc... to watch a race then I could at least stream it and not be exclusive to streaming only. This is going to lose rural America fans for sure.

They are with TNT and It's up to Fox in NBC about screaming the 14 races they each have. Fox has no streaming service and If they offered it streaming they're not getting the objective they want with races on fs1 called people wanting fs1

I went from going to a couple races a year including Daytona and Michigan back when it was 100,000 people. To going to short tracks and watching what fit my schedule on tv. Now its chase what channel its on. Never a fan of stages and the playoff. Guess they can replace me with the “younger” crowd they are so desperate for.

I didn't understand the concept of stage racing when they announced it, but quickly became a fan once I saw it in action. Stage wins actually mean something, and those serious about racing for the championship have to race hard from lap 1 until the end. There's no "riding around" for half the race.

It seems like a catch 22 situation. They need younger fans to keep Nascar going...so they want to eventually bring in more streaming...However the older fans can't afford to pay for what multiple streaming services will cost...but the teams want and need more money to operate...so its probably going to be goodbye regular network TV as time goes on.

I'm not all that familiar with the streaming services...but I'm someone that likes to watch things in the moment...I've heard the streaming services and channels don't show things live as they're happening. I want to see the Daytona 500 on Sunday live as it's unfolding...not on some web channel that's going to show it on Tuesday.

I’m fine with if it’s full streaming but I just want to funnel the money to what I want. I wouldn’t pay for cable if it wasn’t on. So if I only have to pay 15 a month to watch nascar on prime all year great. Saves me money. But if I have to continue to buy prime and cable then I’m gonna still be upset.

I agree. Paying for both just isn't happening. If they go streaming in the future...I'd prefer they put it on the platform that is the most popular...that most people already have. If people have to pay for several platforms at once because they keep bouncing stuff all over the place...that's when it gets to be a financial headache. Pick a platform...and put everything on that platform...that way a fan can can pay for that platform...and be good for the racing season. Then maybe the next year give it to a different platform if they want to change it up. But keep everything in one place. Don't make me pay for one platform for the first part of the season...a second platform for the 2nd half...and another platform for practice and qualifications...to much work...to much money. Not going to happen...at least for me.
