Loved Earnhardt's comments a few days after the race. Someone asked him about all the boos he got in victory lane and he said "If they're not cheering for me, then they'd better be booing me." Truth is, I believe him when he said he wasn't trying to wreck him. Of course he was trying to knock him out of the way as had been done many times before and since (see Gordon/Rusty for just a couple examples) but I have no belief whatsoever he intended to tear up Terry's or anybody else's car. I also find it funny that so many people cite this race as an example of what a dirty driver Earnhardt was, yet no one cites Petty, Pearson, Yarborough, Waltrip, Allison, Gordon, Wallace, Busch, or anyone else who does the same thing as being dirty drivers.

Jimmy just wasn't sure the race was over for sure...lol. My favorite Jimmy Spencer related memory was when the starter said "Gentlemen and Jimmy Spencer start your engines."

When it was all said and done there were 23 combined championships by drivers in this race.

just my opinion but strategically speaking I think Terry's only mistake was making his move too soon...his car was so fast he could have probably waited to the last lap maybe even last turn to pass Dale

The Bristol day race was my 1st live race..big 3 fan..he started last watching him drive to top 10..jus didn't have front pits either that race..but rusty was above everyone that day

@FireVols4 жыл бұрын
if he was as good as people let on he wouldnt have had to wreck everyone like he did all those years!
@BrandonTWills4 жыл бұрын
Probably, but if he was just going to wreck him why not hit him in the rear quarter panel & not the bumper.
@mopar_dude92274 жыл бұрын
Scotty ging two things, Labonte made contact to pass Earnhardt the lap before, so all bets are off after that. Second, Terry had a flat tire (tire going down) from that contact, that is why he wrecked when Earnhardt bumped him.
@BrandonTWills4 жыл бұрын
Anthony Nelson - I don’t know. Cars spark a lot in NASCAR because they run the cars so low to the ground & that was before they repaved Bristol, so the track was probably a little bumpy there.
@brianstephenson8201 Жыл бұрын
I know he wrecked him but like Terry drove into the previous corner so deep he hit earnhardt up the track. He knew it was coming back at him which is why he was so high up the track when he hit him back
@tamezzodiac28624 жыл бұрын
Hey nascar look these are real race cars too right here this is what the next gen should of looked like but with rules so they can’t slam them to the ground or skew them out for downforce to ruin them. Also can we have this Bristol back?
@Foxfire_forty-nine4 жыл бұрын
No. Time moves forward, and so must you. Grow up. Things change.
@tamezzodiac28624 жыл бұрын
Devin C if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Why many sports don’t change much. Nascar changed and they are completely gone now and only loved in a small corner of America again.

A lot of People had something to say about this Finish, but Terry made solid contact that could have sent Dale around just as easy a turn before. That was stupid, you don't pull that kinda sh*t with Dale Earnhardt, it's just not a good idea.

@2:14:00 notice how NOBODY says a cross word about dw NAILING labonte, when he should've seen that coming and gone high/low if he couldn't slow down. and straight turns him around hard. says he just touched him, no he hit him pretty hard, after the caution was thrown. dale just touched him at the end... after terry had tried doing the same several times.

If Dale is on your ass, you’ve already lost because he’s gonna do everything to get that 1 finish. RIP Dale. And my Pennsylvania boy Jimmy Spencer showed out.

This was just one of them "Rubbing's racing" deals, imo. Terry had fresher tires & had the advantage. He was barely tapped by Dale
