Qualifying doesn’t need to be this convoluted. There’s no need for “groups” or “rounds”.

That’s why they use groups. Otherwise the entirety of group A would be screwed, but now they are just competitions against their own group. That being said, the top 5 of both groups should probably go another round on a more equal track.
