9:45 always cracks me up because it sounds like Wally was having a snack when that happened.
@TanDawg582 жыл бұрын
Wally would snack on something called a cowtail during broadcasts. It was some sort of a candy. Theres footage of him trying to eat one when he was driving in a Busch Series race, and Bestwick Tony Stewart and BP are snacking on them and discussing how Wally eats them
@D2RCR2 жыл бұрын
@@TanDawg58Ah, gotcha. Yeah, they’re chewy caramel candy sticks with a cream center. They’re really good so I can relate to Wally being addicted to them.

I remember watching that Atlanta race where Richard Petty's fire happened. Dad and I were fans of Richard even though by that time he was not competitive. To have Richard on the screen during races was more fan service than anything. They had been talking about him and showed him begin to pit. When he down shifted, there were visible flames shooting from the pipes when it backfired. Too much fuel being dumped out the exhaust that ignites on the hot tailpipes. These things dump liters upon liters upon gallons upon gallons of fuel. They had the camera on him all down pit row. Dad said to me "He's gonna catch fire when he dumps that clutch." And you see it explode. The backfire from the exhaust ignited the overspill. I remember it burned the fuel guy and Petty and NASCAR changed some things after that one.

I don't care what anyone says...being the fuel guy in a nascar pit lane is sketch as ish.

Here's a video idea. Nascar driver's clutch wins and pit crew clutch moments.
@timechanger91622 жыл бұрын
I’d say just pit crew clutch moments because most “driver” clutch moments are the pit crew. Unless you are talking about moments like combacks such as chase Elliot roval 2019, maybe bowman having multiple speeding and pit road problems and still drive back to win but even then it was the pit crew/ crew chief who pumped up the tire pressure which gave him better grip
@cpxtreme8242 жыл бұрын
@@timechanger9162 Something like that. But I'm mainly referring to when drivers are coming through like Jeff Gordon 2015 and Christopher Bell 2022. For pit crew you're looking at Joey Logano 2018 Martinsville, Larson 2021, and I think trucks 2022.

Watched that Mark Martin pit lane wreck live and the first time my Dad and I saw it we were convinced he was dead until we say it hit behind the seat. It looked like it went dead center through the door on the first replay. 1 more foot forward and we would have lost Mark Martin.

At 7:56 the announcer is clearly and obviously wrong. He collided with the 43 team's sign holder. Members of the 98 pit crew could certainly have been injured as the sign pole was forced around by the car, but the holder wasn't a part of that team. The sign's number is clearly visible while the announcer is talking about it.

There is no relaxing on the pitwall. At any moment it seems like you could be hit by a driver, a driver hitting another driver, engulfed in flames, runaway tires, accidents in which the driver out of control careens into the pitlane and your only options are, make a clutch dive over the wall, get hit, get thrown into oncoming traffic, or see it happening in time to run.

@@MikeDCWeld so a controled pit lane with fixed boom arms to control air hoses. A pit road that is not open to the race track and only alows single file in the fast lane, that is speed limited. Single nut tire attachment that doesnt drop lugnuts over the pits. Dedicated car controller that directs pit box exit. That is some how worse than the hot mess that is nascar pitting? Hardly.
