I pretty much agree with this video completely except for one thing. I think Penske will move DiBennidetto to the 2 car. I think if they put Cindric in the 2 straight away, they would regret it. He hasn’t shown that he can contend on any track but road courses. He will be put in the 21.

Kurt Busch to shr was gene haas' choice not Tony's. They said when they hired Harvick they couldn't keep Ryan Newman that year because of sponsorship and then they made the 41 car sponsored almost exclusively by haas cnc. Gene was the one to take that chance.

Erik Jones is an incredible driver but I think another reason why replacing him has never been a question is the fact that Joe Gibbs personally promised Erik’s father to take care of him before his father passed away. Erik deserves that ride for sure; but I think that connection is one of the reasons why it’s never been a question.

There is an interesting new factor in this now I believe. It's not a guarantee, but Kasey Kahne said he was interested in racing again if the door opens. If he were to return full-time to Cup, I'd have to think he'd get a call. It's definitely a wild idea, but not impossible now.

If anyone watched the Dale Jr. Download with Rodger Penske as the guest. You'd notice, when Roger had one of each of his (diecast) cars on the table (all from Indy, to the one in Australia (forgot the series name) , to three of his NASCAR cars, like Jr does on his table) and if you noticed, Rodger would name every single car and the driver of that car. From his indy, to even the one Australian car, to Joey, and Ryan, but didn't mention Brad in the #2. So, if that's not a clue, of something going on behind the curtains, than I don't know what is, like you can say it's a coincidence, but Roger named everyone, even the one driver in the Austrialian car, but not Brad.

Joe Gibbs had a strong attachment to Bobby Labonte...wanted him, but couldn't get him at the time. so he went with Dale Jarrett. But, he got a championship with Bobby in 2000..not to mention, a Brickyard win, the same year

I thought of a tweak to the national series championship commitment rule...to prevent situations like Chastain declaring for a lower series ride championship thus essentially making him undesirable to hire for a championship Cup ride within the same season...what if when a lower series driver declares for a Xfinity or Truck title it could also be “upgraded” to Cup if team conditions change mid season?...to qualify for the Cup Chase the lower series driver would still require the requisite points or wins in Cup to make the Chase.

1. Before the incident, I totally thought Larson would be going to SHR. You mentioned Kurt Busch, but it was Gene Haas, not Stewart, who made that happen, including self-funding that car at first, and that was after Kurt was in NASCAR purgatory for 2 years with Phoenix & Furniture Row. Briscoe & Lajoie have a better shot at that seat, and they could still pull a surprise and get a Bowman, DiBennedetto, or Jones. Although, if they get Lajoie, the 32 could be an option for Larson. 2. Re: Penske. Blaney is a perfect storm- a lot of potential that is starting to pay dividends on a regular basis. Everyone was going to make a play for him. Penske needed to make him a priority and lock him up quickly. Very few teams have the money or equipment necessary to land a Brad Keselowski. The only teams I think could compete for landing Brad are Hendrick & SHR (& theoretically Gibbs- but no way he ends up in the same stable as Kyle Busch). I wouldn’t rule out Brad returning to Penske. 3. I think Matt DiBennedetto may price himself out of the 21- unless Penske subsidizes things. I think he goes to the 48; possibly the 14, or even the 2 if Brad goes. Cindric to the 21. 4. I agree with you on Jones/Bell. I think JGR is holding Bell for the 11 when it opens up. 5. I’d love to see Bowyer in the TV booth. I see him as a young DW, personality-wise.

I agree with your logic that as crazy as things are this year a lot of teams will stay with what they know for next season. The question will be how many teams have sponsorship issues with the effect the virus has had on the economy. Since Johnson announced that he was retiring after this season I've been fairly confident that Keselowski would move to the 48 (though I wouldn't be shocked if they changed the number to the 5 or 25), and at this point I suspect that's the worst kept secret in the garage area. I also agree that Chastain probably gets the 42 next season. We may see DiBenedetto move to the 12 (Blaney's number becoming the 2) and let Cindric drive for the Wood Brothers for a year or two before moving to the main team. I think Bowyer and Newman both retire after this season. However I don't think we'll see Larson in either ride. Larson is selling his homes in North Carolina reportedly, so I think he won't be in NASCAR in 2021. Maybe Lajoie moves to the 6 if the sponsorship is there (Roush is notoriously hard on sponsors). It's hard to guess who will end up in the 14. To pull a crazy sounding name out of the hat, maybe they look at somebody like A.J. Allmendinger if they want an veteran driver. I don't think Chase Briscoe would be ready for a Cup ride yet.

I think Ally will move over and sponsor Bowman because he has sponsorship holes, and Brad driving for HMS would bring some sponsors to him, along with Bowman's current sponsors possibly upping their support with Keselowski (who will get the 5 instead of the 48) I think that Bowyer will leave at the end of the year, but I think Briscoe will take over the ride. Larson will probably end up with Rick Ware Racing or something like that because there's no way he ends up with a major team his first year back.
