Need to go back to this points system. It worked great for so many years and now it's so bad, sponsors are dropping like flies. Thanks, Brian France.
@braedonshelton23052 жыл бұрын
The world is a different place. Sponsers no longer want to put there name on cars. NASCAR needs to change the system, so teams no longer have to have a sponser to survive. This point system was ok, but so many years it was a blow out. NASCAR is entertainment. Therefore, let’s make it the most entertaining we can.

I was there for the Busch race on Saturday that year and watched practice for the Winston Cup guys. I remember hearing him on the scanner that day. Dale Jr was not real happy with that car and complained a lot about the temperature of the engine and the amount of tape that was on it. He said the car didn’t suck up good to other cars and was dragging the frame on the turns. I always wondered what adjustments they made because it was so strong he led a good bit of the race

Carrol Smith told a class of Jim Russell MTP students in winter of '02 that the DEI cars were so fast because they ran a transmission that had 8-12% less rotational drag than the other teams, which translated to something like another 25-35 horsepower. That's a good chunk of reason as to why they were so dang fast in that era on plate tracks. Cool details and it's always the small things like that that add up and win races

A lot of race fans ( past & present ) may not know this, but a NASCAR Cup engine making less horsepower as a restrictor plate engine, has FAR MORE work and money put into it, vs the more powerful non-restricted cup engines. They don't just take an engine and build it for the most power, then simply slap a restrictor plate on it, because such an engine would suffer too much power loss with the restrictor plate, and be less responsive. So they put a lot of research, development, and hard work into an engine specially designed to run it's best WITH a restrictor plate. I would love to know more details on what is so different about a special restrictor plate engine, but the above information is all I know at this time.

Good engines, good aero package, and they figured out a way to minimize parasitic drag through the transmission compared to other teams. All adds up to really fast superspeedway cars. Watch close and you’ll see the 8 car much faster sailing off into and through the corners. They knew how to keep the cars from bogging down.

A lot of young NASCAR fans have never seen these races and a lot of us older fans haven’t seen them all either. This is a constant issue I see with all NASCAR videos. Make viewers watch to the end if they want to see who wins. They can google it if they don’t want to wait til the end but don’t put it in the title. Anybody there ever go to a marketing class?
