What an absolute legend. Amazing speech too. Red's a guy you could sit down and chat for hours with, and never get tired of hearing his stories. What an honor for him to be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame! A true racer through and through.

A class act and proof that just because your name isn't as known as everyone else doesn't mean you aren't among the most passionate. An icon getting the honor he deserves.

He is very well know in the south . When the F-97 rolled into the pits you were probably racing for second place. He should already be in the NASCAR Hall of Fame. He’s already in several . Congratulations Red !

That speech was awesome 😎👍. Red should have his own TV show…. “The Racing Adventures of Red Farmer”…. He could tell one of his Racing Stories on his show each week.. So good, that show would go 5-10 seasons at least. Sign me up. Let’s Go! FS1 could broadcast it. And If NBCSN had it, the station wouldn’t have shut down.

I watched this man race dirt late models in summer of 2002. I remember it vividly. I was 11 years old. This man lapped the entire field 4-5 times In a 50 lap race. This was in a small town named cottonwood Alabama. About 4 hours south of talladega. He blew a motor up that Friday night testing. Called some boys up that night around midnight. And 4 boys showed up about 5 in the morning with a brand new car that had never touched dirt and had never been driven. And that's the car and man I watched wipe the floor up with a bunch of 20 and 30 yr old ,hot shot, super late model drivers. Man is a legend.

Well.........it used to be. I'm 60 yrs old, I've been a die-hard fan since they first started televising only part of the races leading into the early '70's. I continued watching the races every weekend all the way through 2008 or so. I also attended multiple Daytona 500's and "Firecracker 400's" because I only live 90 minutes from Daytona.....and let me tell ya: I know for a fact I'm speaking for hundreds of thousands of lifelong, hardcore NASCAR race fans when I say that NASCAR has done just about everything an idiot can dream up to destroy the sport. They took North America's largest & most popular spectator sport........a motor sport that was the best of all of em.......something that was perfect and unbroken.........jacked it all out of shape with incredibly stupid ideas, rule & schedule changes, got rid of many historic race tracks, and basically tried to turn it into "the NFL/NBA on wheels". They traded a perfect common sense points system & traded it for a stupid, complicated points system and "the Chase"......"racing periods" ( I thought only females are suppose to have "periods" ), and today's drivers spend more time on stages behind microphones than they do actually driving the race car, or helping the team with getting them ready. Most of the younger drivers today know next to nothing about building a race car, and they damn sure couldn't handle racing 500 straight miles non-stop, ( aside from cautions. ) Today, they get their "racing periods"........I guess so they can all take a break to eat ice cream or snow cones. The retired ( or deceased ) veteran drivers were TWICE the man that most drivers are today, and everyone knows it. NASCAR literally shit on the hardcore race fans to try & attract "new fans" that never understood or appreciated stock car racing to begin with. SO MANY fans left, that they had to tear down huge sections of grandstands at most tracks, just so they could bunch up all the spectators, to make it look like "a bigger crowd" for the TV camera's. Each stable is a member of a car owner with so many race teams, if you're not a driver for these bigger owners with all these race teams WORKING TOGETHER ON THE TRACK, you don't stand a chance of winning. I feel sorry for all the younger race fans, because what we had from decades before was REAL nascar racing.........racing that was FAR MORE exciting than what they are today. "Nextel" and "Sprint" took over BUDWEISER & WINSTON as major sponsors for the races. It all sucks compared to before.......

Red was in the helicopter with Davey Allison when he was killed at Talladega. I was lucky enough in the 60s and 70s to see Red Farmer along with other Nascar Hall of Fame drivers race at Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas Virginia. Even better was when my dad would take us down into the pits after the races to see the cars and meet the drivers. Richard and Lee Petty...Bobby Allison...Ned Jarrett....Junior Johnson....Neil Bonnett...Darrell and Michael Waltrip...... Morgan Shephard and David Pearson. Tragically Tiny Lund raced at Old Dominion the night before he was killed at Talladega Superspeedway in 1975.

Congratulations Red. There will NEVER be another like you. I met Red at STARS restaurant in Anniston way back in the 80s. He was just like anybody else that you would meet, except for the fact that EVERYONE knew who he was. I watched him race at Talladega the next day, he was caught up in a crash with about half the field. So he didn't finish very well that day. I saw him that next night back at Stars, he and several other drivers were laughing and talking about the race and they were comparing the level of damage that they all got. Red said he was second in "THAT PARTICULAR FINISH" . 😎
