Been going thru a bunch of your videos today. I just got a Crucial P5 Plus 2TB and the MHQJRH, witch looks line a clone of the Eluteng. I can't anticipate any issues, but I had to note the testing while so detailed also is not great because you cant A/B test something unless you only change one variable. In testing the different heatsinks you are also using different SSD's and that just invalidates so much of the data. I would love to see a new video of "ultimate showdown" where this is kept the same.

Both you and the channel owner do not understand heatsink effect on ssd! While ssd controller works better when cooled, the storage cells operate slower when cold and degrade faster when hot. That means - the cells and the controller should never be connected together in one sink and the chips should have either no cooler or only small cooler on top of them.

@@HiltonFen if possible cool only the controller, it will wind down on overheat. If your chips get really hot (some multimeters have temperature probe, or measure it directly after use with laser) use heatpipe to both controller and nand connected to the large sink outside, so t doesnt exceed 35 deg Celcius. Worst situation is small sink that covers both controller and chips.

I have the Firecuda 530 2TB and the Elecgear EL-P5C (ordered from Amazon Japan because nowhere else available). Same, I have the 4TB Firecuda with the Elecgear. I also ordered from Japan and we are neighbors (Netherlands) 😆 But too answer your question, there is a video on KZbin from someone who also checked the chips underneath and they where even cooler then the double sided heatsink. This sounds logical, cause heat will always flow towards cold. Law of thermal dynamics.

@@dynamike549 hey Bro, that’s cool :D The Firecuda is a hell of a beast for a NVMe. That’s the point why I’m not sure about the temperatures from the downside. @@ELEX0R I fully understand bro. Those 2TB and 4TB's are expensive and we don't want them breaking of course. The video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJnOf3eAj9p4qNU But like I said, heat will always flow towards cold by law of thermal dynamics. So let's say that underside is getting 5 or 10c degrees warmer, that heat will move towards the other side of the SSD and into the heatsink seeking equilibrium. To test this you can take an old double sided ram module (if you have that laying around of course) and put it against a shortly warmed iron. That heat from the iron will reach your hand trough that ram module.
@ELEX0R
@ELEX0R 2 жыл бұрын
@@dynamike549 thank you for the video. Before I bought the ElecGear I already believed that this heatsink will do the job fairly good for double sided NVMe‘s, but these facts and numbers will let me sleep better in future ^^ I understand your thermodynamic point. Frankly if you see this tiny and bad ventilated slot for the NVMe just with that one-fan-negative-pressure principle through those two little openings from Sony, it left you behind with some questions and it’ll let you start to crank the gearwheels in your head automatically, especially if you have such a heat producing m.2 only half covered 😄 But in the end it seems to work better then expected and that’s all I want 🍻

I avoided getting a 980 Pro with it's own heatsink simply for the fact that it would severely limit you to what you can use it in. It's not going to fit inside a laptop or external adapter for example. The ElecGear or Sabrent heatsink cover paired with the 980 Pro (without a built-on heatsink) seemed like the way to go to future-proof the M.2 for when the PS5 is pretty much obsolete. NASCompares tested different heatsinks with different M.2 SSDs but this temp. tested isn't always right because of different M.2 SSD installed with a different heatsink. Why not try to test 1 m.2 SSD on all 4 different heatsinks? I believe that T-Force Cardea SSD is coolest temp. than others m.2 SSD! WD Black m.2 SSD is very hot temp, not heatsink's fault. ***THUMBS DOWN*** for this video.

can get the WD black or a Samsung 980 pro with a heatsink on it already, and both fit PS5. just do not buy the PS5 branded WD black, it cost more for the same drive.

Here is my dilemma , should I buy the 2tb XPG Gammix S70 blade with the Elecgear HS , or the Sabrent rocket 4 plus with HS for the same price for either 1 . $270.00 for each setup? Love your site, came upon it since I just purchased a PS5 .

I have just installed a 4TB ssd for my PS5. Do I have the Sabrent heatsink. As the 4TB has chips on both sides, do I have to have a heat stripe on both sides of the SSD? I only have one between the SSD and the Sabrent heatsink!

Great video.. have you tested the Team Group Cardea A440 ssd in the PS%.. and if so it comes with a Graphine heat shield (flat stick on), if you were to use this type SSD with the shield adhered , then install the Sabrent on top of that ? Team Grp A440 alos comes with a finned shield, but it is to tall ti use with the PS5 cover installed.

This would be don’t be obsessed with getting the most high end and fastest so long is the game loads and plays that’s all you need it might take one or two seconds more to load a game with a slightly slower card but honestly it’s not worth the extra hundred bucks that pays for a game just get the one that works well and you don’t need to fall into the trap of having the fastest card because within six months there will be another card which is actually faster anyway.. I’ve got a Samsung 980 pro

Do you have to re-fit the ps5 cover ? Doesn't it defeat the object of the heat sink and stops the fan drawing the warm air away from it,?? With the latest ps5 they run around 20 degrees cooler so would ot matter that the wd ssd runs a little hotter ?

For the ElecGear heatsink + T-Force Cardea A440 SSD, did you attach the thin graphene film to the ssd AND attach a standard thermal pad to the ElecGear heatsink? I am trying to figure out if I need to use a thermal pad on the ElecGear heatsink if I am already using the thin graphene film that comes with the T-Force Cardea A440 SSD? Did you use both the thin graphene film and a thermal pad on the heatsink? Thanks for your help and excellent job on the comparison! The temperatures are rather impressive with the ElecGear heatsink + T-Force Cardea A440 SSD.
