What would be cool is a column on that list, of the USB external drive products that HAVE been adapted by the manufacturer, removing the SATA ports to keep people from shucking. At the end of the day, if shucking is the goal, knowing which ones you cant shuck would be important.

On average, what level of savings (price) would you expect to get by shucking the drive, instead of just buying retail version of the same drive?

This is a confusing title. "find a hdd in a USB"? Makes sense though 30 sec in.
