best to do in this type of case: turn hard drive by 180° let 1cm space in every hard drive front ventilation in the case use 4 smooth tubes instead of hard drive rack for better air flow and less vibration (you can have another rack if you want 16/18 hard drive in an atx case) add small cable management and no pcb for hard drive ;)

Great to see these reviews, i'm currently looking for 8-bay case, have seen this one, the layout doesn't quite feel right for, it really hard to find a good compact 8 bay

Yeah. I do like how compact it is for an mATX 8 bay...but that compaction definitely results in airflow question marks. Also, I'm just not a fan of those bays.

@@nascompares Yes agree with you, There must be a market for a well designed compact case similar to this, everything out there seems to have some weird choice or design fail

I love NAS cases but this is a very tall case and really doesn't seem that it was designed well. I would much rather have a lower height (4U max) and provide additional depth for drive bays. They could have also used horizontal bays to fit more. I feel like a case of this size supporting only 8 drives is a huge negative.

Is there any kind of chassis you can recommend that can fit a MicroATX motherboard? I just want to operate on my spare BSD system.

I bet some Teflon tape on those metal rails would help getting those drives in and out.

Better off getting a Define 7 XL for that price.

Antec p101 silent seems a better choice for atx spare parts build ?

Don't see anything about it having a hot swap capable backplane. I know it often not a concern for people but I've worked with large servers so I tend to see that as a requirement for any storage build. Some years back there were a Taiwanese of Chinese case manufacturer, can't remember which, but they sold NAS cases that was pretty nice. only they were designed for Flex ATX if I remember correctly. They were compact, had a nice drive bay design and individual access and error LED for each drive bay. I recently tried looking for them only to find out they have left the case business altogether. There were more but my memory isn't the best anymore. Still a bit pissed that I didn't buy some of those nicer storage cases back then. It seems so hard to find decent alternatives now.

Playing devil's advocate. If somebody is paying close to $200 for a case then they're almost certainly going to replace any included cheapo fans with decent/high spec ones as part of the build anyway, so it's kinda good not to see them, as it always sucks to pay for something you don't want/need. I have a drawer full of Fractal/LianLi/Antec/etc branded fans I'll never use but can't bring myself to bin as I technically paid for them haha.

i know its not common, but grease the rails a bit, also the plastic slides can be LIGHTLY sanded for smoother operation

I mean.. you're right, that would help. But if we go down this road, why not just include trays? Or increase the cavity a fraction of a mm?

Definitely not impressed. To much money for what you get. Jonsbo for the win.

Yeah, looks a bit fiddly, a bit Billy basic and a bit of a mark up on reasonable pricing. A bit of a chunky monkey too yeah.
