when we specify users on folders can this apply also to native windows access, like when people browse folder through their windows file explorer?

With Windows 10 removal of Networking I am having access issues to allow access to several machines I have attached to TS-420 attached to the network. It seems to lose connection to various machines and cannot see the music or other shared assets. Do you have a video to explain how QNAP sees windows 10 machines? Thanks for your great videos Doug K

I am interested to know too. I have windows 10 and windows 11 clients and want to make sure these laptops have no issues accessing folders on the qnap and also the users/groups we create reflect on Windows access through windows file explorer seamlessly. what is your experience?

Hey man, hoping you can help! I've got a QNAP NAS RAID 5 already set up and it seems to be working fine over the server. However, one of the main reasons I'm using it is for fast video editing speeds. I've connected a 10Gb/s Cat 7 cable from the 10Gb/s port on the QNAP to the 10Gb/s on my comp, and transferring files to and from give me speeds no quicker than 100MB/s (sometimes much less), which seems to be in line with my internet connection, leading me to believe any and all file transfers are first going through the ISP before landing on the respective device, despite being directly connected. I'm admittedly a RAID/QNAP novice, but I'm pretty computer/tech savvy overall, and I just can't seem to dig up any info that points to the presumably obvious answer. All to say- if I'm not getting fast transfer speeds for simple file transfer, it's certainly not yet set up properly for speeds that will allow for improved video editing performance. Ideally, I'd like to be able to mount this drive and access it the same way I would an external HD. Could you cast any light on the issue? Thanks so much.

I just bought a TVS-1282 and it presently has 2 x m.2 SSD's and 5 x Ironwolf 16TB HDD's. I didn't set up a storage pool but rather two independent Static Volumes mainly because I haven't been able to understand what the advantage of a storage pool is. I'd love a video explaining QNAP various setups, Static Volume, Thick Volume, Thin Volume. Should I have created a storage pool?
@bigd6398 Жыл бұрын
Right there with ya. I dont see why i cant just do a static volume over a storage pool.
@Tech-geeky Жыл бұрын
@@bigd6398 I just create a static volume, no RAID.. as i have backups anyway.. I know, you can never has too many, but i like to also keep things simple.

First of all thank you for your awesome videos! I had two questions: 1. Is it possible to have multiple media folders for different media applications? I want to address one directory for family photos and videos to be used with the mobile qPhotos app, and another directory to be used for tv shows and movies with mobile qVideos app and so on. 2. Is it possible to share contact groups with qcontactz while keeping some other groups still private? (without needing to log out and log in to different accounts for the members of the family.)
