As a singaporean, it warms my heart to hear such positivity about our country. There is of course plenty of downsides just like any country, but it’s still amazing. Also a Note about gum being illegal: It’s only illegal to sell or buy it, however if you do manage to get some (Eg, from overseas), you can still eat it, BUT you have to dispose of it properly.

for me the biggest problems i saw in singapore were how your government closely and i mean VERY closely monitors its citizens. facebook, and other social media platforms are monitored for any anti-govt. speech. there are cameras literally everywhere. its almost creepy the feeling of being watched there. i also get creeped out by the lack of crime, because crime at least at some level, is normal. you can't own real estate in the way you think you can there either. people are very limited in rights and freedoms in singapore, which is something most of the ppl there won't tell you.

@@geniusandmad japan had a worse disaster to deal with in a short time frame. Our problem was that we, like most colonies in south asia and africa, didn't have an ample amount of regional leadership that could counter the effects of east India company's systematic destruction of generations of economy (laws like land redistribution to upper castes for example). Maybe if the country didn't fall into political instability multiple times after the independence and went the china route of taking away citizen liberties we'd be better off but we chose to be an almost anarchical democracy, its not the best but its certainly not the worst

Singapore is really strict. That's why it's so environmentally friendly Guys just stop comparing it to North Korea. And saying it's not strict. They are disciplining their country. Letting the citizens have their rights and choices and freedom without doing things to harm the environment and country reputation. Yes North Korea is strict. But I'm not talking about that.dont compare because North Korea isn't just strict it's unreasonably strict. What I'm saying is Singapore is strict but reasonable. Besides don't get me wrong I've lived there before so I do get what y'all mean by it's not strict. It is the rules are a must to follow of course. But it's reasonable. 💜💙 have a great day

When war broke out, Singapore was one of the countries that Japan raided, many people suffered and died until they didn’t when world war stopped, Singapore became independent and started their own country. If you are a Singaporean, be proud of being a Singaporean. If our Prime Minister’s father didn’t persevere for Singapore, we wouldn’t be where the Singaporeans are here today.
