I wonder the efficacy of peppers treating alcoholism though. I know capsaicin interacts with endorphins, but alcohol works on the GABA a receptor, which I completely different. You would think it would be a lot safer and more sustainable for him to get on like chlordiazepoxide. Alcohol withdrawal can be very dangerous. No matter how addictive you are to heroin, you’re not gonna die from withdrawals unless you’re old or sick with some life-threatening illness. But with alcohol, the withdrawal can kill a perfectly healthy 20 year old. There could be some mechanism that helped prevent that, or he was on some medication assisted treatment, like benzodiazepines or chlordiazepoxide, and peppers just helped.

For those who are interested, the reason it is actually plausible that eating chillis relieved this man's alcohol cravings, is because the brain responds to pain signals by releasing endorphins. That's why those accustomed to the heat find it pleasurable, and chilis themselves can be addictive for some people. Beware though, the Carolina Reaper is so hot, very few have tried one raw without deeply regretting it moments later. 😂

@@siberwolf1188 Ikr, but it's apparently so. I can't confirm cause I've never experienced any of the mentioned symptoms to use as a relief, but kind of makes sense; using a minor pain or something to distract from something else imo. I thought it was interesting cause I just heard another short about something else, but the information was relevant to this 🤷😂

Well, as far as I know, the particular species of chilli called "bhoot jolokia" is considered the spiciest chilli in the world. It's found in Nagaland, a North-Eastern province in India. I don't think he genetically mutated regular chilli to make this one as shown in the video.
