Nashorn (Revell 1:72 scale model kit)

Full build, painting, and weathering of the Revell 1:72 Nashorn model kit. This is my first 1:72 scale armour build. The painting was done using AK Real Colors paints, and the weathering with oil paints and enamels from AK and Ammo.
The Nashorn ("rhinoceros"), initially known as the Hornisse "hornet") was a German tank hunter developed from 1942. Equippted with the powerful 88mm Pak43 anti-tank gun, the Nashorn was only lightly armoured but could destroy any Allied tanks at long ranges. The Nashorn made its combat debut at the Battle of Kursk in 1943, and saw service primarily on the Eastern Front and in Italy, although a small number were sent to Western Europe.

@@ModelNerd I'd be curious about your next project, I'm also surprised about the quality of "modern" 1/72 tank model kits! Last time I built a 1:72 tank kit it was in the early 80s, and the kit was consisting of a few quite clumsy, low detailed parts as far as I remember.

If shelf space is a major cocern maybe take a look at some 1:48 kit‘s. They have a nice balance between size and details! I build this kit roughly 13 years ago on a model show and I remember it beeing a fun one. Sadly it wenn into the trash bin some day.

Nicely done. Great kit and keep the good work in this scale coming. A particular good kit is the Dragon Panzer III. There are several versions and they are all good. The new ones have the Neo tracks which supposedly are an improvement over the vinyl tracks. I usually use OKB resin tracks on most of my vehicles so I haven’t tried them yet. It is a very nice kit. I'm doing it the other way round . My main model builds are 1:72 airfix WW2 planes and the odd WW1 planes done a few Armour at 1:72 over the last few yrs but since watching a few youtube videos I got some larger armour and hopefully will do a few weathering etc.

For such a small scale this Nashorn certainly packs a punch with details. Excellent job all round resulting in a terrific final reveal. Any news re the delivery of your other shipping items? Know how you feel with having to wait for your usual modelling materials and paraphernalia to arrive.....hopefully soon!

Yeah - I was lucky that with the black base coat only a rough splodge of yellow in the centre was enough. The rest is either covered with mud or is 'shadow' :)

Got this model . As usual with many Revell kits the individual track links were a real pain . Why can't they mould the running gear and tracks as one whole piece as assembling tiny individual tracks ruins what was an enjoyable build ?

I know, I hate them too. And it's not just Revell that do it. Virtually impossible to fet all the individual links position correctly.

Wow ! This came out looking epic ! This is a very interesting tank indeed. Do you know what they used to put on the sides of the hull ? Kinda like a name or something? I noticed in several photos.. these tanks in particular had names on them, unlike many other German tanks. Like a nickname or city?

Traditionally I’m a 1/35 armor guy but i must say I’m leaning more towards diving into the 1/72 market. Another great build, my friend 👍
