I’m a 75 year old grandmother who only graduated high school and I’m currently homeschooling my granddaughter who was in a public school a year and a half then Covid hit, I found out she couldn’t read because the schools are using a method of teaching sight words and they give them a list of 100 words and say learn these. But they knew long ago that if they don’t teach phonics then children can’t read. I started teaching her the method I was taught by Benedictine nuns, using phonics and now she can read. School only gave her 4 simple addition problems every day like 1+2 or 2+3 and it never progressed in all of that time. Now they say don’t memorize multiplication just use a number line or add 7, 8 times to figure it out or counts cubes up, do you realize how slow and time consuming that is? I want her to go back to school but she was also bullied so badly by mean bratty boys, if I told you all the things done to her you wouldn’t believe it. Nobody makes their kids behave. She is exceptional because she says please and thank you. She just wants to be a nice girl and make friends but most kids don’t value that. She is pretty, blond with blue eyes and sweet and kind to others, she saw one boy being beat up by the school crazy and she went to check and see if he was okay and help him up and the bully started punching her and said what are you doing.

I graduated High School in three years (advanced courses and Summer school, wanted to go to work sooner as my family needed the help) and I homeschooled my daughter for High School. Sorry we didn't know about homeschooling sooner. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree at age 20 from a private university with many scholarships several years ago. Her paid elementary school education was sadly lacking, so glad I had the chance to homeschool her! We used an excellent parochial high school program that was very tough academically. No bullying either! 🙂
