Well, Leadbelly makes up for everything ... the cream of the crop, for sure. Though this version is very sanitized, as you know, he wrote, "...I GET you in my dreams" which means something very different. The Weavers sanitized and sweetened it, but this version sounds excellent! Just different from leadbelly. I agree. Great song. So much of what he wrote and performed ws outstanding.

Keep up the good work because the World needs a good music. What makes a good music by the way? It's the ears and maybe hearts that should answer that question. For me, music has been my rock and soul. I listen to geed music when I'm down like when someone stormed into my village's Church in Makol Cuei, Bor, South Sudan and killed over 20 people. Actions like that are not acceptable in 2020. How have we fail as a society,eh? We humans have come a long way and we do have bad days but the hope and the will and the love for our fellow human beings and animals and even trees and rocks keeps us motivated and alive. Covid-19 may take lives but shall never take good hearts. Stay safe and remember to be kind to yourself so that you may extend that kindness to others around you. If kindness was a disease, our World would be more better and happier. I remember when someone I didn't know knit me a "sifinja", it is kind of a shoe you wear indoors. That woman was Dr. Adina Mcbain's mother. Good humans like Adina always aim to help others and when I came to Mount Allison university, she did her best to tutor me Chemistry but my heart and mind was somewhere else. I love good people like that, people who just rub their kindness onto others. We must learn from the bees and united as a World in order to see the future.....because I have travelled there in my mind and it's magnificent. May God help us reach that far.

I'm one of those who like looooong songs. If there are many alternative verses, I like hearing as many of them as possible - maybe even all. But very rarely do musicians do my favour. These guys did! And they did it in a way that might convince more people that it's nice this way too! Beautiful arrangement. Not an easy thing to do to a song that's been arranged so many times before. This is very exciting to me as a musician for over 50 years. I have enjoyed many "jams" like this at many outdoor and indoor Concert venues. oh boy this reminds of my childhood days in Ireland no radio in our house but a large family in our street I think all girls with voices like angles who knew the great songs of the day from their radio one of then would sing this in her front garden you could not get by on the pavement even if you wanted to thank you for 8 minutes of lovely memories.

It is the same for me i remember as a boy about twelve yrs old peeling apples and most of the women would be singing this song and a lot more like it, up in Armagh.

heard this as a young boy in Ireland a large family nearby had lots of talented girls one of them would sing to passers by her garden no music I recently heard she is still alive 80 years old we were poor I had to go to a friends house to listen to hopalong on the radio sponsored by spangles when I left Ireland still no radio in our house a lot of irish music went to America with imigrants.

Jim Lauderdale isn't mentioned in the title or accompanying information for this video. However, it looks like he's one of the people who brought this group together and is one of the soloists. To me, he's one of the greatest country singers of all time, and his contribution to promoting country music is immeasurable.

I LOVE ..LOVE ..LOVE THIS MUSIC . Reminds me of my childhood when all 6 of our 8 kids would have a good old sing-a-long at home with my mom and dad.. We would all sit on the floor of our super small kitchen while my mom was cooking up a simple but super meal . My dad loved to sing this spesific song and we would all have so much fun and happiness singing along with him' Something money can not bye. Life in South Africa was simple but filled with love and happiness and I will always regret not nowing about this group when I had the oppertunity to live up to my great dream of visiting Nashville after retirement. .
