A journey up to Nashville to see the famed Parthenon reproduction that was created for the Tennessee Centennial in 1897. Now fully completed, its a wonder to behold.

My parents and I used to go to the park there about 1962-3. We would fly kites my father made from stickweed and grocery bag paper. We went there many times and I always loved it. We would always take time to see the building while we were there. It's great to see it again, thanks for sharing. Thanks for the tour inside too! That is truly awesome!

I visited with my kids summer of '96. At that time it was (mostly) all white and they were working on adding the original color. It's nice to see the finished product. I hope someday I get to visit it again. In some ways (at this point in time - on a sight by sight comparison only) I think this might actually be a better visit than the original in Athens would be. At least, if you're anywhere near the Nashville area and are planning a trip to the real Parthenon, you should plan a Nashville Parthenon visit right before or after.

One of the reasons why it's taking longer and they won't rebuild is they are doing major archeology at the same time. They are also only replacing parts that would cause the rest of the structure to collapse

Imagine if the United States was the only country that didn’t have neo classical architecture from an ancient world. All other continents do, but not us? As one who’s studies architecture, this level of detail is not possible for horse and cart civilization of the new United States and eastern expansion in the 1800s. Where are construction photos of the ground breaking? The first columns? Don’t believe the USA is somehow separate from the whole world. Check out Jon Levi. The worlds fairs and expositions were simply a display of the old world before many structures were destroyed. This is lucky and incredible to remain. The sheer scale of architecture fully concludes the builders were of a larger size as well. Who makes copper doors that large? Bigger humans :)

Finding parts to rebuild a real Parthenon is not an easy task because of the type of marble used, and the devastation of the buildings themselves, though they are trying to repair them. It is a long process one must consider because modern equivalent does not always fit the situations for the technology at the time does not equate our technology, you can't just slap new jigsaw pieces on an antique puzzle🤔😳‼️

built by giant for Giants... at least built by big people for big people that were bigger than us... And if you look at those metal doors, you can see a color difference up high most likely where the doors were pushed open regularly by people's hands much taller than us.... it kind of looks like oily smudge marks from people's hands

For some Greeks leaving it the way it is, isn't a bad idea. The basic structure is there. Standing there for 2 500 years ..high above the city of Athens. The "sacred hill" or Acropolis is visible from most parts of the city. And also why interfere with the monument? There are mysteries as to how the ancient Greeks built it. For us its gonna loose its magic . It will no longer be what it used to be.
