If you come to Nashville you do not need to wear a cowboy hat, big belt buckle, and boots. That is how we tell you are a tourist.

Females in boots and a sundress are also a dead giveaway. Or if you tavern pedal, ride in a horse and carriage, or that big limo thing with a hot tub.... Then there is what I call the “woo hoo” girls; usually a bachelorette party.... Sigh, I miss life with a real view downtown minus the construction of even more condos... My city has lost most of its charm due to urbanization. Hence, I moved to Wilson County.

Lived in Nashville for 20 years as a kid in the 90s and as an adult. This is a really great list for first-time visitors to our city; very well done! Don't let the comments below fool you though. Nashvillians are still as kind and warm as they ever were which is a huge part of why people fall in love with our city. We just like to complain about traffic and our new popularity even though traffic here is still not bad at all compared to Miami, Chicago, etc. This is still the best place to live and play in the country or I'd go elsewhere! East Nashville is just across the pedestrian bridge from downtown and has a super different vibe. The Five Points area in East Nashville continues to blow up and could easily have made this list as could a few dozen other great places here. I love to see other people enjoy this amazing city; keep coming and we'll make sure you want to move here!

We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

SherryDA2018 BB Hello! Thank you for commenting on my comment. I’m sorry if you thought my comment was bragging. That wasn’t my intent at all. My point was to say that these places are pretty meaningless and aren’t a good representation of Nashville. I also don’t see these places as “history” but rather money pits for people to waste their time and money so they will feel like they have had the Nashville experience. There are a lot better things for someone to do with their money and time then to visit these places. That was the point of my comment. Again, thank you for taking to time to comment on my comment!

A lot of people who move to Nashville don't seem to understand that: 1: Houses are over priced 300-450k and this is only the start. You can buy a nice house with a lot of land outside Nashville if you wanna live more out in the country. 2: Multiple houses are built on less than an acre of land. You want privacy? Forget it, you will be living 4-5 feet away from you're neighbor. You're better off getting an apartment if this is what you are wanting. 3: Living so close to you're neighbor can pose to be a fire hazard to other neighbors in the event of a fire. Building contractors won't tell you this though and sellers will not tell you this though. 4: Today 200+ individuals are moving here from different parts of the world. This number will only continue to inflate. 5: Traffic today sucks unless you live within 10-20 minutes away from work, and don't have to take the interstate to get to work. 6: A lot of crime and armed robberies just minutes outside downtown Nashville. You won't see often though if you can afford the ridiculous cost of living downtown.

We live just south of the city and avoid it like the plague. We only travel into the city when we have visitors and they want to see the spectacle. It used to be a great place to hang out--20 years ago. Now it's overcrowded, expensive and over-run with drunk people on scooters and bachelorette party wagons. Not to mention the crime, panhandlers, and insane traffic. In fact, all of middle Tennessee has become a headache and we are looking at moving farther south in the state. Used to be a time when you could park downtown for $5.00, eat a great meal, catch a Preds game and get in and out of the city without a problem. Now it's a logistical nightmare. Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro and now Lebanon have seen an explosion in population and the traffic is nuts and the crime rate is terrible.

Pretty neat spots to see. I gotta say while I'm a Johnny Cash fan, the museum was ok but not my favorite. I was more impressed with the Patsy Cline museum upstairs. The George Jones Museum down the street is another great one. And if you like cars, the Lane Motor Museum is a must.

I have lived in Nashville for 44 years. I have been to a honky tonk once. I go hear fantastic live music all the time, and none of it is in that touristy area you talk about in this video. Lol

I was thinking of visiting in few weeks from GA. Any recommendations what part of Nashville to stay?

If you had every seen the Christmas decorations done by Harvey back in the 50's and 60"s at the Parthenon, you would have experienced the Parthenon made up just for children. A fantastic memory for all us kids back when going on Christmas was safe, beautiful and a memory that never fades...never fades. 🤍💜🤍💜🤍✨🎄✨🎄✨💜🤍💜🤍💜

Born and raised in Nashville and it's not that expensive as some may say. It's just that some newcomers insist on living in the downtown area. Which isn't the brightest idea considering the traffic. There are nice 2 bedrooms apartments for under 1k, in the suburbs. Though the city is experiencing gentrification with all the new people moving in and tainting the culture of historically black and Latino communities. But love the ville anyways 💕
@haigewalk79564 жыл бұрын
It’s insane how gentrified Nashville’s becoming. It’s like night and day once you cross the bridge downtown to Main st.

I’m from Nashville born and raised and we don’t do any of these things. East Nashville and green hills is where it’s at. The farmers market is being renovated (thank God). I spend most of my time outside of the city even though I live in the city in a nice neighborhood. Visit 12 south eat at the frothy monkey. Make sure you have money here because it’s expensive to even park here. Please don’t wear cowboy hats and cowboy boots we will talk about you lol. Eat at slim and huskies pizza. Nashville is not just about country music. We are a very large metropolitan area for fashion and food. Thanks for visiting our city!
