I'm a guitar player, myself (naturally or why would I be here?) but I have sat next to cats like Stan Kenton as a child and watched the greatest jazz pianists play all my life. I've seen the hands of the greats dance above the keys. It's been beautiful! Magical, even. But watching this cat's hands is freaky. He is so good, though. I doubt he could hit a bad note even if he tried. But watching his hands is a mind-blower. Thank you for introducing us to him.

I'm so glad that you did this piece on Gordon. also glad you talked about him yesterday in such an affectionate way. I've loved him for a couple of years now and even sing one of his songs in my church, "Mercy Walked In". he is super talented to be sure but I didn't know he had perfect pitch...but it kind of makes sense.

Hey Tom. I'm retired, and been enjoying your Homeskool'in. I went down this rabbit hole and found Gordon Mote. When I was young I had a friend, Doug Koyle, a blind Jazz Sax and woodwinds musician. Amazing, just like Gordon. So, I went to Gordon's KZbin, heard him play "Gospel Ship". Not fully my cup of tea, but I'm a sucker for the beat. I'd buy from Gordon no matter what he's sellin'. Thanks for sharing real music.

I am here after watching your solo album studio video. I am thinking all of you session men place dynamics right up there with melody. I don’t know how well Pro Tools handles dynamics, but that tape has such depth. Thanks again for your videos Buk.

I have concluded that only a blind man could ever do that! His left brain-right brain is separated. .....he might be a savant...
@MrBobaloo226 жыл бұрын
Notice that in his "learning to play (physically but not visually)" how he has learned to depend MORE on his sense of "touch" (for instance, how he "feels" intervals) -- directly and indirectly, he has learned to play "differently" than most of us "sighted" pianists -- he is an AMAZING PIANIST -- very unique -- I love the way he plays!!!!! An amazingly talented musician!
@lkeithf4 жыл бұрын
There is something very different about a blind person when it comes to the other senses. The other senses are enhanced! Same goes for a deaf person their eyesight becomes enhanced or their tactful perception. Look at Johnny Hiland, Ray Charles, etc. Their ears become less human and more "divine" if you will.

@MrBobaloo226 жыл бұрын
There are several pianists out there who play with the obvious skill of Anthony Burger, when it comes to arpeggios, runs, etc. -- he's a skilled and flashy player -- but Gordon Mote (not more) is AMAZINGLY UNIQUE!
