This is a heavy breakfast. You can differ them by different culture. Javanese even in malaysia usually have their own farm they work on, so they usually have heavy breakfast. Light breakfast is usually for the blue collar office worker. Nasi ambeng as you can see, is full of protein. long bean, fermented soy bean, tofu, tempe, and chicken, dried fish, and serunding, are all proteins. Literally rice and heavy proteins. Good for workouts.

Kaz, that TEMPE is like the Japanese NATTO but instead of sticky and gooi the TEMPE is firm cubes of fermented soybeans. TEMPE is an INDONESIAN staple food, particularly for the Javenese. We Malaysians like to eat it too. Do google how TEMPE is made.

As you already know by now, Nasi Ambeng is a mix dishes comprises of nasi (rice) with 2-3 heavy dishes with side dishes (boiled eggs, temple, tauhu (tofu)), that makes it a heavy dishes just by hearing it, even more by looking at it. It is usually perfect for lunch, but for a heavy eater breakfast peoples, this is the best choice. You'll be familiar with temple (fermented soybean) if you are in Selangor, WP KL area. Almost all our Malay dishes is eating by mixing the two or more taste/dishes with the rice to enrich the taste😋. Maybe you could try Chinese dishes after this? I'm sorry I don't know what to propose as I am Malay. Enjoy your next meal!!

5:35 Actually this is Javanese food. Nasi Ambeng (Sego ambeng) or Nasi Berkat (Sego Berkat) is very tasty because we always eat it together with family and whole neighborhood after praying (selametan/syukuran). You can search about Selamatan, Syukuran, Kenduri. We sit together in floor and we eat it together. I think in Malaysia, Javanese people only sell their food but don't do this tradition (cmiiw) The value is always grateful to our God. I hope this tradition will long last. *Wong Jowo Ojo Lali Jawane* Javanese people don't forget our Javanese culture wherever you are.

Before putting your body to work, we need breakfast. It is the most important meal if the day. Unlike any situation, your body is 'fasting' during your sleeping hours and thus there is no source of energy that time which is okay because your body too is in resting state. Once you wake up and get to work, your body require energy boost and if you start your day without breakfast, your body will have to get the energy from reserved storage, your liver. If skipping breakfast becomes a habit, it would put your liver in overdrive mode every day and over time, it will damage your liver due to overwork. Furthermore, eating a good filling breakfast helps to boost our metabolism level for our body to function effectively. Some people skip breakfast for diet excuse but it is supposed to be the other way around. You could skip or reduce intake in other meals but never breakfast because it might reverse the outcome of your diet. Heavy breakfast helps to calm your cravings down all through the day. Without breakfast, you just put your body into overdrive mode during the start of the day and let it crave for more for the rest of the day. It will make your body suffer physically and emotionally due to your cravings too. So in conclusion, a heavy and balanced breakfast is good for your body and helps to control your body weight. However, be very careful because this is only true if you take heavy breakfast with this concept - "eat like a king in the morning, like a middle-class man in the afternoon and like a beggar in the night". It doesn't help in your body weight control if you having heavy meal everytime throughout the day... and that's the problem in Malaysia since the food is so good, its hard to say no to heavy calories nasi lemak if offered to at night! 😅

It's an Indonesian traditional dish actually 😅 Nasi Ambeng is a Javanese people's traditional dish.. Usually served during 'kenduri' and served in a tray.. Each tray will be shared with 3-4 people.. This dish was brought here by the Javanese people from Indonesia long time ago.. The Javanese people then got married with Malaysian people and stay as residents here.. Many of our foods are fusion of many different culture..
