So glad you returned to do more Dimash! I told our fan group I just knew you were going to get hooked if you would just watch a couple more reactions. In this Chinese competition, only professional level singer are invited to,compete and all are Chinese except apparently they invite one nonChinese participant each season. Dimash was their choice for this year. However, the Chinese people were not familiar with Dimash and before this first episode, had never even heard of him before..including all the other professional contestants you see in the backroom waiting to go sing themselves. So as he is performing, you see their looks of amazement as they hear this competitor for the first time. As the season progresses, you see that all the contestant come to love Dimash and since themcompetition has ended Dimash has continued friendships with several of them. This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and doesn't speak any Chinese] , and least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode]. This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing. Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.

S.O.S is translated as "A Soul's Plea for Help"...he sang that during Episode 1 of the Singer 2017 competition in Hunan, China...Dimash placed 2nd overall after the completion of the contest...he is classically trained in opera and he has a wide vocal range (6 octave including whistle notes or "dolphin tone)...

Good to know that you take your comments seriously. FYI, SOS is considered the fifth most difficult song to sing in the French language. Dimash has been singing this song for years, so he's familiar with it, and it's level of difficulty makes it a great first song for the completion so that he can show off his full vocal range, 5 and a half octaves, just in one song. His parents both sing professionally, and he's been trained classically in music since the age of five. He has now come into his own, so, look out world.

Well Hang... I don't know if you looked up a translation for the S.O.S. song lyrics, but not surprisingly what you felt from Dimash's performance is the exact emotion of the song's meaning and intention! So, he totally brought it through with his voice most superbly and amazingly! Well, there really aren't enough adjectives to describe it! Please look up the English translation and you will be amazed at how spot on your feeling of sadness and of someone in desperation crying out for help is. S.O.S. is actually the international maritime Morse code for "save our ship" sent out when a ship is in trouble as was sent by the Titanic for example. So, it's basic meaning is also "help." The title of the song is, therefore, "S.O.S. from an earthling (human) in distress." :)

Oh Jang, that lady at the start of the video is Teresa Carpio whos dad is Pinoy (bandmaster) working in Hongkong. Teresa is the one and only Chinay who is respected and admired in the whole of Chinadom singing since the 70's. Prince D's interpretation is so much better than the originals...I like when he makes his voice FLICKER like a flame going out.

SOS is from the old morse code days and is an abbreviation for "Save Our Ship." In morse code it is ... --- ... It is a call to anyone (especially another ship) for help because you're in distress.
