i think one factor is the fact that shawn won AA before the olympics. so even before the 2008 olympics people knew her already.

the reason why shawn got attention was beacuse her degree of difficutly was higher and she was only 16. although that doesnt take away the fact that Nastia is an amazing gymanst and she did deserve the gold but shawn deserved her's aswell.

@TheAdzyPadzy Well of course it is! Your accent does not change when you move somewhere after like six months. You have to realize English in not his first language and they didn't just teach English in the USSR. Hes's gonna have the accent for the rest of his life and there is nothing wrong about that. There are manny immingrants in the USA.

She's shorter, but you have to realize that Shawn is standing about 6 feet behind her, so the perspective is playing games with you. Nastia is actually 5'3" and Shawn is 4"10", which means that there's only 5" difference between them.

i agree shawn did do better, i compared shawn's floor routine to nastia's and shawn most definitately did better, and if shawn went before nastia shawn would've won. shawn deserved that title.

Shawn may have had the better floor routine but she didn’t do better on everything else. Nastia is a MASTER on bars and once they got to uneven bars, that’s when Shawn fell far behind and just couldn’t catch up because nastia’s score was just too high.
