I don’t think no one has had a worse relaxer burn than me, the lady relax my hair I told her it was starting to burn and she kept going, the skin broke, she had me to hold my head back while she pore witch hazel on to it, next day my hair was stuck I lost tons of hair my scalp was burn, and pus was constantly coming out of it, I was so traumatized and I still am, I wish I had taken her to small claims court she should not be in the business of hair , I still had to pay and she did not check up on me or anything, or offer treatments, she felt she had done no wrong, blame me, she is just sloppy and a disgrace😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

OOOOOMMMMGGG!!! Why in God's name would she pour an astringent on your scalp during a relaxer. There's no way she didn't know not to do that I hope you ruined her. After doing something that evil she needs to be banned from touching anyone's head.

Getting salty all over again lol because this happened to me last week. LITERALLY everything your saying not to do the beautician did. Moral of the story: doing my own hair from here on out because never again. Not even sure if I wanna continue to be relaxed after this experience. Either texlax or back to natural. So many gems in this video very informative. It's much appreciated 🙂. If I do this for a texturizer I'll be set.

Get petroleum jelly and oil just ur scalp the day of or before ur relaxer. After u wash ur relaxer out regularly blend and strain an entire aloe Vera and pour it on ur scalp and let dry. Don’t wash it out just style as usual… this works like a pro even if I accidentally irritate my scalp before relaxing

Yeah people always say you should go to a “professional” for relaxers and color etc but a lot of times they don’t know what they doing either lol I know my hair better than anyone. And plus if I make a mistake I’d rather it be a free mistake lol I haven’t been to a salon in over 10 years. I’ve been the one to complain about major burning and the stylist just shushes me only thinking about the hair needing processing. Scalp health was never taken into account. And I have scalp psoriasis LOL. Never again

Lord I remember buying the Super as a teenager and well into my 20's. I have known better for the last 15 years (45 years old now) and even use mild for the front 1/3 of my hair and regular for the rest on the advice of a trichologist. I also used to relax every 8 to 10 weeks, doing the edges even more often, now I relax twice a year. When you know better you do better and KZbin including your excellent channel has been instrumental in the last couple of years in further knowledge. Hair is not the be all but it is sometimes an indicator of health issues so it should not be abused or ignored.

When you said you relax twice a year I was glad to hear! I'm getting a virgin relaxer next week and my mother was saying I have to keep up with my relaxers touch ups every 6 weeks 👁👄👁 I was like absolutely not! I'm not getting my relaxer touch ups until my new growth is absolutely unmanageable or looks crazy.

Usually when I get relaxers I burn quickly in the front & back of my head. In March while having one it was burning all over my head instantly. Afterwards the stylist flat ironed me on the lowest temp & that hurted so bad. But I feel it was my fault because I washed & blowed dried my hair the night before.

Hey bri my worst relaxer burns was when I was going to high school it was hell an back my hair line was always the worst I usually have to wear a bang to cover the burns it was horrible I usually have sores on my scalp for days and then I went to the salon after it was worst the hair stylist always leaves when she is finished relaxing my hair because she doesn't want me to tell her that my hair was burning so I always go home with alot of burns so I stopped going and started my hair myself and I saw a big difference, still get a little burn here and there but not that extreme, but am still working on it not to get any burns it's a working progress love your videos that's my story love you keep up the good work girl.

I didn’t even know what burns were- I just knew that my hair was literally stuck on my scalp and I couldn’t comb or lift it off of my scalp. Oiling my scalp for a few days helped. I don’t know how true this is I’ve never tried it, somebody mentioned using talcum powder on your scalp during relaxer application to prevent burns

My worst relaxer burn was at the salon after applying relaxer and massaging about like say 3 mins it was starting to burn I was insisting on washing it but my hairdresser said my hair won't relax, my hair was paining me after washing my hair stuck to my scalp really bad 😢worst day ever I plan on going natural after this incident and never add relaxer again
@KianaToleratesU

When I’m near my relaxer days, I cut all my nails, I detangle two days before, then before I got to my hair dresser, I use Vaseline on my edges. She’s really good at washing things out fast if it does start to burn the tiniest bit. If I ever had a BAD burn it’s my fault because I either forgot to detangle in advance or a accidentally scratched. But it’s only ever the edges. Before I found her, I used to go to a more “professional” salon and they used to walk out and talk on the phone while I had relaxer on my hair (on the scalp 😐) I burnt every single time. The worst was after the hurricane and they couldn’t order the sensitive relaxer, and they used the super strength relaxer on my sensitive scalp (I didn’t know) and the lady left me to tend to someone else. It burned so bad I almost passed out and I was crying. Nobody helped me because they were busy with other people and the lady ran back in after 30 minutes to rinse off my hair (but before that felt the need to go back in with the comb) she tried apologizing but I was in so much pain I couldn’t hear or process anything… it was the WORST burn and I went a whole year without relaxing because I was so traumatized I also went through a lot which caused depression. Once I found my new hair dresser, she saved my hair, I was literally growing a giant loc 💀 whenever she retires I’m going back natural.

I’m so envious of women who say they can use normal relaxer without negative consequences. My hair is extremely resistant to relaxer. If I use normal I would have to use it for 25 to 30 minutes to get texlaxed quality. And I know I am not in the norm but this has happened since childhood, and even in adulthood when I tried to do it myself or went to a professional we had to switch to Super every time. If I use normal relaxer, after leaving it on for 25 to 30 minutes my hair with still come out curly and the amount of smoothing and combing one has to do to get it into texlaxed form causes a lot of breakage. So for me to retain hair I have to use Super for 10 to 12 minutes instead of using normal for 25 minutes. If you leave relaxer for that long on your hair, you had becomes like straw when it’s dry and it becomes like mulch when it’s wet, it’s prone to noting and you’re after shower detangling session will take more hair than it’ll leave even if you detangled prior to your shower. And I understand this is not a normal circumstance, so using super relaxer should not be recommended to everyone. But if your hair is anything like mine using normal causes more damage than using super. 😢 Remember to make sure what you’re doing works for your hair.

Sadly, we were told to leave it in until it bad so that it would be bone straight. I’m assuming that since flat arms were not a big thing back then that was a reason why we left the relaxers in for so long, even if it started burning our scalps. Sadly we didn’t see anything wrong with it.

It takes forever to shampoo neutralize hair sraighteners. That's how chemical laden theyve become over the years. A scent free Vaseline base is crucial before applying straightener but even with that you can still burn. If that happens Vaseline, I find, is still your best friend and the quickest way to heal a perm chemical burn. Apply liberally. whatever you do, avoid using antibacterial ointments. That will make it worse!
