I can definitely say I firmly believe the concept of wanting to "save someone" as strong 8th house energy. I know because I have this placement and I saw that in all my 3 previous (very serious, marriage-minded, love) relationships I was involved with men who were hurt or damaged in some way or form. They ultimately left me heartbroken several years later as they gained more confidence and then realized I wasn't really needed anymore....they fell out of love and need/attachment to me. Thus, my abandonment issues now. Fast forward to this year in July, I met a guy who was hurt by women before and admitted he was just as sensitive as I am, although he was OK with casual sex but I let him know I was not down for that at all, until I'm firmly established in a relationship, **minimum**. I showed through my affection and words that I was safe and he could trust me, and he knew I was so different from the previous women who he said "damaged him" in the past and ALL his life, to the point where he despises all women except ME. He said I did such a good job and convincing him I was unlike anyone else and would talk about the future together, as he said he believed I was The One for him, and where have I been all his life. He claimed I was the only woman he'd ever met who wasn't after millionnairre status nor did I berate him for being a security guard. I suggested to him he probably should stop going after the gold diggers who will treat him that way and that I was never like this. Still, I could never figure him out, since he was not very reciprocal with affection even when I said this is something I NEED in a partner, and we dated a handful of times. We had hours-long phone conversations and I though we were growing closer (I was). I know we both developed feelings for each other, but he would ghost me. (The one time he replied after ghosting me was to explain how he decided he was going to move to where his parents live, across the state because they take away his depression and intense pain, and that his "heart bleeds"...meanwhile I never saw an ounce of emotional vulnerability from this man, he always acted tough and confident and not needing anyone. I was SO shocked and heartbroken and told him I thought we were developing something between us and now he's jumping ship?" After I reached out and we started communicating again, he explained that he "might be moving" but wasn't sure yet and he wanted to tell me something in person. He said he thought of going to live with them but it wasn't because he didn't like me; it was that he was afraid things would go downhill between us after he'd reveal certain things about his life, like the other women he dated in the past who had walked out on him after he expressed these stories from his past which were really nothing to freak out over, I thought. I did not leave him, I listened the whole time, being very supportive and caring toward him. I was falling for him. But even after that, he would reveal other things that would put great doubt in my mind such as saying in person to me, after he said "you know how I feel about you,"....I said "not really, can you clarify?"...he said "you know I really like you"... and when it came to speaking about love, he continued to say he also falls hard and fast for someone he really likes (just the way I do), but that he's been hit so hard by women in the past that he can't "love"... but the feelings are there. That confused the hell out of me. Both times he ghosted me, I'd reach out due to being so hurt, and then we'd continue to see each other. IronicallyIt only lasted a couple of months (because he ghosted me a 3rd time this past Sunday evening). I previously made a promise to myself that if he ghosted me a 3rd time I was not going to reach out and contact him again. He was never clear about his intentions with me, so I was often left confused and sometimes hurt. I feel that this man was THE most damaged I'd ever come across and I was attracted to helping him and thinking we had nearly everything in common so it could turn into a beautiful relationship. Unfortunately now I just think he was SO damaged far beyond repair that no matter what I did (trying to "save him" from himself) that I was only left heartbroken because he has abandoned me simply over texting him that I got very sick when he was vaping right in front of me inside his apartment and how sick I was the day after. I reminded him that when we first met each other we both talked about how much we hated smoking of any kind, no drugs, no tattoos, nothing. But yet he was vaping which is still smoking, and that I didn't know he was a smoker. I mentioned that I wished he cared more about my health, since he never asked how I was feeling the day after I let him know I had terrible shortness of breath and thought I needed a chest X-ray. He was understanding about me not being able to be around vaping, but he said he highly doubts my reaction was from that and it was probably because of the clorox he uses to clean his apartment regularly (which he had a bad reaction from as well). He said he'd never use it again. But in light of my texting him that vaping is smoking, apparently he just quit talking to me. He never replied to anything after I told him it's the same reaction I get to being around cigarettes. This was Sunday night and I never heard from him again. Sorry for the book I wrote, but I had to get this out and see if you'd respond. I'm very hurt, and feel I deserved at least some kind of explanation or anything at all by now, instead of being completely abandoned (ghosted).

I'm sorry that happened to you but I think you're right that a person like that is damaged goods. And he sounds like a textbook narcissist! Look on KZbin for narcs and ghosting--it's a whole deal. It's basically a mind f*ck. They do things that don't make sense to turn your sense of reality upside down. But I don't think 8th House is the reason. Is your Venus in Pisces? Or is Venus in a hard angle to Neptune?
