This is a famous Kazakh folk song. One of my favorite. You did a great reaction and commenting
@rhettkennedy35075 жыл бұрын
So a bit of of a reference as to the head bobbing comment. The reactor was Tara Simon, and she was commenting on Dimash's SOS. She said the head bobbing on Dimash was because his natural register is lower (he can sing baritone) and for him to reach such a high register for a man is very hard to do, and so the resonance would cause his very skull to bob when he was up in there in whistle. She said for a woman who would sing naturally higher (she gave herself as an example, and I am assuming the opera singer you showed), since it isn't usually quite as difficult, her head wouldn't bob at that note (I am surmising that very high notes hers might also). Just for comparison, you could watch her reaction on your free time, and see if her analysis is something you agree with (hearing an explanation second hand from folk like us, the explanation might get garbled).

Think of what you say before you say it "singing high notes for no reason"? If you don't know the story of the song or the words to the song how do you know he is hitting those high notes for know reason. Most of the time when he adds something to a song it's not just the high notes like in HELLO or ALL BY MYSELF but he adds riffs and runs and puts his SIGNATURE on it. His Vocal acrobatics are amazing if you know of anyone that can do what he does put that video up.. I would love to hear it Please, Pretty Please :)

If you keep reacting to Singer Episodes, you will watch Dimash do staccato high notes on "Diva Dance" from the film "The Fifth Element". His head is stable in that case as well as when he sustains the high notes -- of which there are lots. Where his head sometimes bobbles is when he is sustaining high notes but with volume and vibrato. Males have much larger lung capacity and both Dimash and Diana are classically trained so I would think that the chances of this happening with a man are more likely than with a woman? I don't know whether the bobble is involuntary or not, it was a couple vocal coaches that have mentioned it. If there was to be an "exception" to whom this happened Dimash is the best candidate for it. Damrau's performance of that aria is superb!

I was going to mention this as well, confessa + diva dance performance
@rhettkennedy35075 жыл бұрын
I remember another coach saying that for men to get that high, it's harder, which causes the head bobbing. Esp. when one realizes Dimash can sing Baritone. For women it can happen, but they would have to reach even higher (if their range is higher, which most women's are).

Dimash sang on a recorded show in US Feb 6 2019. Another competition show. "Best in the World". He did get a standing ovation (sang SOS). ….Can the skull resonate like glass at a certain frequency causing it to visibly vibrate? He said he was a little nervous singing in the USA first time. Might of showed a tiny bit I thought. He will be on again, since he passed the audition. So will be on TV again but not sure when. Wednesdays..

Yeah I thought so too. First time in all his performances I saw the nerves and heard it a bit too. I think sometimes we forget this young guy is still human. And you could tell this means a lot to him to break into the United States market. That being said, he got a great score and I think his confidence will grow. One of the other vocal coaches mentioned in that performance he also kept playing with his earpiece, like it was malfunctioning. I wouldn't doubt if he had trouble monitoring his voice as a result and was just going off of muscle memory. He's so dang good though I think very few would notice.

This and episode 4 where the best of your reactions. At last. In the other reviews there was too much criticizing just because you wanted to find something negative to say. Head wobbling (that was stupid), too much emotion (Adagio) ( really? How about Lara Fabian pouring her heart out completely? Not too much ? Come on.) and episode 3 was a disaster, especially what came from the husband. Not changing the song....rubbish...it's not karaoke. It's an artistic cover. You have to add your own signature to it, dude, not just copy the original. What's the point of that? I've seen actual rock singers react to it and they were impressed. So, keep reacting, but try to do it as professionals, since you say you are. Natalia, good job. Kudos to you. Husband....we'll see...

Sorry but this made me laugh I grew up on opera and have seen some of the best. You are comparing a female soprano opera singer with a male classically trained but not doing pure opera? Seriously, perhaps you need to look at your thought processes again. Would you like to compare ages as well? Dimash was 22. Perhaps you should personally discuss this with the opera singer you showed. I am guessing her thoughts and yours might differ on the subject. Honestly I clicked on this because I liked the song. Your reaction tells me you have a lot to learn yet about differences in skills, male verses female and music in general. Then again at over a half century in age I guess I realise I do not know everything yet. Perhaps you have yet to learn that yourselves.

Sorry guys I gave a Thumbs down to your reaction. Only because you were not happy with the head wobbling or what ever you wish to call it from Dimash. I appreciate that you are both Opera singers (probably very good) and all that. The thing is the, vocal coach who talked of the head moving was actually relating to a male singer up in these very high note ranges; where the tonal resonance kind of maybe creates some bodily reactions that are out of the singers control, and who cares anyway the performance, as usual it was amazing. By the way, the vocal coach you referred to has also been classically trained. Anyway her main point was ; this is unlikely to occur in a female singer. The main reason being these effects would probably not happen with a female voice as these high notes are more natural for a female. I, personally have never heard a male singing in these kind of ranges. If you know of another male singer who can do this high of a register without the head wobble I would love to see it. Anyway it just added more character to the performance. I saw nothing wrong with this. I do hope you guys are not just nit picking. Regards Erich
@Q.Q.5 жыл бұрын
Don't know if Tara Simon was classically trained, and if so to what extent, but what she said about the resonance causing the head to bounce in Dimash's "Opera 2" never made much sense, as, if it were indeed the resonance, his head would've been bobbing around so fast his face would be a blur. I suspect that what the bobbing really was doing was to assist his vibrato at those very high, long-sustained notes, as doing so would have been quite difficult. With regard to what Natalia and Gilad were attempting to do, using Diana's "Queen of the Night" aria performance to refute Tara Simon's "resonance" theory, because the staccato notes in the "QotN" are so short, even if Tara's claims of resonance causing the bobbing were true - which, they are not - this particular aria would've been a decidedly poor example to use. In "Opera 2," the notes are very sustained, and so Tara's "bobbing resonance effect" would've been much more eminently displayed, if it indeed were true - which, again, it is not. As to any supposition about a female head vs. a male head "resonance bobbing," give it up.

You’re comparing apples to bananas! And you guys called yourself professionals? Really? First of all, Dimash is a GUY. I’m sure you know how “difficult” it is for any male singer to sing an F6 note. Not only that the F6 notes the female opera sang were staccato. She didn’t sustain the note like Dimash. For you to compare Dimash to a “female” opera singer is irrelevant. Btw, Dimash can easily do staccato in F6 and higher with ease. I sense bitterness and jealousy in your reaction.

Lol dissing another vocal coach because you dont agree with her opinion. At first I was thinking of doing some research of your musical achievements and trained artists under your repertoire but I gave up after seeing the opera singer comparison. I'd like for both of you to go back to school and learn some basic science before you think of giving musical /vocal lessons to your students. Human anatomy differences should be your first revision. I apologize in advance if there's any grammatical, or spelling error because I'm writing this comment while commuting on a public transport but frankly speaking "I don't care/won't care". This is a VERY POOR comparison ESPECIALLY coming from you two “Opera singer” as you’ve said yourselves. 1. The lady reached her high notes by navigating through a bunch short & quick notes very rapidly, till she reached the top note but she never stay at the top note for more than a second. 2. Dimash on the other hand had to held his high notes in more then 3 seconds( or longer) in that particular song “World Best battle round - All by myself” which is the performance you two trying to compare.... I am not saying by stay longer on A high note more than a few second will cause one’s head to wobble, because my head wobbles when I try to peek through the window blind for too long and I am not even a perfect singer. 😆😂😄 Since you two called yourselves opera singers maybe you two should have an explanation to the “head wobbling” which had been brought up by you two, instead of making a unfair comparison between those two singers. Make video of yourselves singing a note close to D6 range and held that note for more than 3 seconds in one breath, singing with all the power you’ve got with your heads tilting backwards then show us your video. It would be a wonderful thing to discover how good you two are as opera singers and able to sing without any unnecessary movements in between changing vocal register. Oh pls don’t make a video about how Dimash had to kneel in order to get to his specific register so you two could claimed that’s another reason he is not a good opera singer! 😆 YOU TWO ARE MORE THAN RIDICULOUS!

The female opera singer in the clip you showed was great! Very clean and amazing sound. However, that argument was so unnecessary. I feel like the dude in these videos is a bit to negative. He needs to wear some other hats sometimes instead of reverting to his default black hat all the time. If Dimash has a head wobble, I'm sure there is a reason for it artistically or physically because I've seen him perform the songs on many occasions without a head wobble so nuff said I think.

Re: the head bobbing controversy: Dimash is my favorite singer, and there are plenty of great, technically correct singers out there who I don’t enjoy listening to. With that said, is the head bobbing bad for his voice health? (For example: his jumping onto his knees is very enjoyable to watch but I don’t think that’s healthy for his knees, so I hope he will stop doing that...)
