Disappointed in LEMBANG, Bandung🇮🇩 Indonesia Vlog: Tangkuban Perahu, Orchid Forest Cikole, Sari Ater

After exploring Bandung city, we were so excited to check out some other places in Bandung, starting with the town of Lembang. Lembang is about 30 minutes north of Bandung city, up in the mountains. The temperature is a lot cooler up there! We got a hotel along the main road of Lembang to start our exploring day early the next morning. Our first stop was the famous Tangkuban Perahu volcano. After seeing some other amazing volcanos in Sumatra, we were so excited for Tangkuban Perahu!!! We got directions from our hotel and set out on our adventure. First we had to take the white angkot, then we had to change to the orange angkot which we could take almost the whole way to Tangkuban Perahu. When we arrived at the entrance to the volcano, they told us that we had to pay 300,000 Rp each to enter!!! This was the highest price we'd been quoted for anything yet in Indonesia! Even our hotel was only 117,000 Rp/night (we didn't name it as it wasn't the best...), so 600,000 Rp total to enter the volcano was out of the question for us! This started our day off very badly as we were really looking forward to Tangkuban Perahu.
We decided to start walking down the road to try to figure out something else to do. We then started talking to some locals with motorcycles who said it was too far to walk to the next place we wanted to go, so we got a ride with them. They took us up the road to Orchid Forest Cikole. We didn't know much about it other than it said it was a botanical garden. It seemed a lot more geared towards families/instagram photoshoots, however we still had a good time here! We walked through the gardens to see all the orchids, played with some rabbits, and enjoyed a fun game of mini golf. There were some other fun activities you could pay for such as zip lines or horseback riding, but we were actually cold in Lembang!! We decided to leave Orchid Forest Cikole and head to the famous hot springs in Lembang: Sari Ater Hot Springs. We tried to call a Grab taxi to get there and we were lucky that there was a car right at Orchid Forest! I don't think there are many Grabs in Lembang..
We got to Sari Ater and unfortunately it was Saturday......which means the hot springs were SO busy!!! We paid for our tickets and then we were very confused as there isn't much information there. Luckily we found some nice massage guys right by the entrance. We wanted to get a foot massage anyway, so they walked us the whole way to the changing rooms so we could change into water attire. We then had a nice massage in the hot water! After the massage we continued to walk around Sari Ater, but the hot springs were so busy!! We actually didn't get back into the water. We tried to call another Grab to get back, but Sari Ater is too far away from the city that we couldn't get a car. We ended up walking to the main road and hoping an angkot would come by that we could jump on. We got lucky as we didn't have to wait too long before jumping on the angkot and getting back to our hotel in Lembang!
I believe Lembang would be a great place to visit IF you can pay the local price for the volcano (30,000 Rp instead of 300,000) and if you go to the hot springs on a weekday when there are less people. Unfortunately we didn't have the best time 🥺

​@@NataliesPassport if you are fit you can climb this mountain on sunday .many local people climb it on sunday .the starting point is Tea factory in Parongpong area. Ask local people where the Tea factory is. Not far from Parongpong .Lembang to parongpong is 2 km to west direction. Sukawana Tea Factory.

Memang keterlaluan tiket masuk ke tangkuban perahu, sangat mahal apalagi dihitung per orang. Belum lagi ketika masuk di dalam banyak orang-orang yg di dalam menawarkan souvernir2 dengan harga tinggi dengan modus pura2 untuk membantu mengambil foto pemandangan tapi pada akhirnya minta bantuan membeli souvenir nya. Begitu pula ketika mau turun untuk merebus telur (juga dijual), tiba2 ditawarkan oleh para massage foot di sekitar air panas dengan sedikit memaksa. Kejadian di tempat ini tidak membuat nyaman bagi turis internasional maupun lokal. Kemarin konten @solmangat , wanita muda korea juga merasa kaget dengan biaya di sekitar tangkuban perahu yang membuat tidak nyaman bagi pengunjung di sana. Pemerintah Jawa Barat kelihatan tidak memperhatikan hal2 seperti ini dan mengabaikannya. Sangat memalukan !! Membuat stress bagi turis ...

Itu betul, pemerintah harus atur yg. penting agar turis merasa nyaman, apalagi kalau memaksa - maksa, dengan harga2 mahal. Kalau Ind. ingin menjadi negara turis semua harus diatur dengan baik. karena turis2 asing ingin agar nyaman. yeah, this is actually the big problem for tourism in indonesia, bcs alot of places charges different prices for local and tourist, and just to be honest with you guys, tangkuban perahu is not worth 20usd.. for me it might worth maybe like 5usd top.. so, you guys absolutely make a good choice there to not visit that place 👍

To get to volcano crater freely you got to hike via tea plantation and forest from other direction (Sukawana area). 3 hours hike but view along the track is amazing though. Yes some other time maybe😊

Knp ya Pemda setempat ksh harga tiket sampai 6x lebih mahal utk turis asing drpd lokal, ini salah satu yg bikin mrk keluhkan, 3x harga lokal sudah ckp hrsnya sehingga mereka bisa kasih rekomendasi yg bagus buat turis lainnya. Ga semua turis kaya2, byk yg cuma backpacker atau youtuber. Kko harga dan pelayanan bagus mrk akan dgn senang hati merekomendasikan ke turis2 lainnya.

Perlu diluruskan ya, yang biasanya ngambil untung besar dari tiket bukanlah Pemda, liat saja tiket masuk objek wisata yang dikelola oleh pemda seperti Taman Hutan Raya Juanda, HTM nya murah! Dan yang dikelola oleh BUMN, seperti Perhutani atau PTPN harga tiket gila-gilaan mahalnya, contohnya HTM ke Kawah Putih, Gunung Tangkuban Parahu, Borobudur, dll sangat mahal terutama untuk Wisatawan Mancanegara. Padahal bukan wisata wahana permainan, cuma masuk buat menikmati keindahan alam saja dibikin mahal.

It’s okay to skip the Tangkuban Perahu Volcano. For 300k IDR It’s not worth the penny. I’m sorry for what U guys experienced with that price and might upset U for a 10 times higher prices. But It’s okay U can still find a lot of exciting place surrounding Bandung areas. Hope U enjoy Ur trips here

Yes there are different price for foreigner and locals. Even my Indian boss is identified as locals since he spoken bahasa fluently. Not only tangkuban perahu but situ patengan and other leisure places that owned by perhutani

You guys should go to Gunungkidul Yogyakarta. There is more than 20 beautiful beach (CMIIW) and the ticket entrance is really cheap (5k last week I go there). It's really fun adventure to go there with motorcycle.

Menanggapi ini Harga udah Peraturan Zaman Pa SBY 2014, dulu Harganya 200ribu dan untuk High Season menjadi 300rb.. Pa RK juga sempat Bilang Tiket Mahal dan Buat di Kaji lagi harganya.. tapi Pengelola tidak Bisa Merubah Harga Sesukanya karena Ada Peraturan dan Pengesahannya... dan Harga Ini Mungkin Akan Terasa Tidak Terlalu Mahal jika Fasilitas disana Baik Bersih Pelayanan yang Ramah.. mengingat di Luar Negri Juga Harganya Hampir sama Untuk Turis bahakan ada Yang Lebih Mahal tapi Point Fasilitas & Kebersihan Terjamin.. jadi ini Kembali ke Fasilitasnya yg harus diperbaiki dan Kebersihannya.

Yes but…..Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world! And it’s a really popular tourist destination. So I get them charging extra. But for Tangkuban Perahu? If foreigners want to see a volcano they go to Mount Bromo. We’d already been to Mount Sibayak in Sumatra and it was amazing! So I don’t get why people would pay so much for Tangkuban Perahu 🤔

​​@@NataliesPassporthere are many mountain in West Java that you could get in for cheaper options like Mt. salak, Gede-Pangarango, Ciremai, papandayan, Cikurai in Garut area but yeah you have to hiking on it unlike in TP. I think Tangkuban Perahu famous for school trips, or family trips since it's so accessible with cars.

That's one of the problem In Lembang, Ciwidey or Bogor area, some of the touristy places are too highly monetized....it's ridiculous....😑 but still a great video, i hope it will be better in your next adventure 🤗

Thats what I hate from my own country differentiating the foreign price and the local.... the gov assume that because the foreign currency is strong so everyone can and willing to spend that much... its a God damn ripped off !!! Not every foreigner is rich, some visitors are student and they don't have a lot of money yet. I hope Indo can learn this quick that this is a shitty practice... I myself Indo I know them well and I can criticized em 😂, and not just regular Indo, I've been visiting other countries too so I know the different in how other country handling tourism. Another improvement point that I hope my fellow man can do is to make all information accessible and up to date, specifically about the prices and stuff.... so people / visitors who come can enjoy the place without finding out shitty surprise.... Aww thank you 🥰 it’s okay, we were ranting too 🤣🤣 I get that some places are more expensive for foreigners, we’ve seen that in some other countries too. But usually just for super famous UNESCO sites and stuff like that. We still don’t understand how/why Tangkuban Perahu is so expensive as we’d never even heard of it before coming to Bandung.. 🤷‍♀️ oh well, we still saw a lot of cool volcanoes around other parts of Indonesia! ❤️❤️

My husband is a British citizen, before he had temporary stay permit, he had to pay crazy "tourist" fee too. If you think you will stay here longer than 1 month I think you should apply that permit too.

I also disagree with the rate being 10x from the local.. maybe 5 dollars is reasonable without a guide.. everywhere you still have to look for information first and be careful.. bandung was once called the safest city in the world. But now since transmigrants have appeared, the atmosphere is starting to be different, but believe me, Bandung or West Java are still the best in terms of many things compared to other provinces

@@NataliesPassport can't wait. I have recommendation, in my hometown Kabupaten Subang (2 hours from center of Bandung), we have great waterfall with about 100m high and about 5km or 3hours hiking, the name is Curug Cileat, you can google it or find in youtube.

It is always like that, sometimes foreign and local prices are always differentiated. There are 10 time more or sometimes just couple bucks different. At least it's officially stated in the brochure, not the price of the officer's service. 😂

13:04 on your left is Sari Ater Hotel & Resort where you can enter and use their clean pool facility with the same source of hot sulfur water but less crowded and more private (you pay around Rp 100k, last time i come here. the catch is there are no ticket box, you just walk to the hotel gate and ask the security staff then pay them for entrance) also you can order food from the hotel resto next to the pool. you can feel more relaxed with less crowd and you can also swim also.

ciwidey (south bandung) for white crater and pinisi lake .... lembang is at north bandung .. actually in many area (including other countries), foreigner will get higher fee entrance ... and u should stay glamping in orchid cikole (at bobo cabin / bobo box) and try flying fox (outbound) ... if u still in lembang, then u should try to go to floating market at least ...

I just want to recomend you if u visit Sari Ater for the second time later then, u might try the mayangsari pool (exclusive pool) which is less people there or private room hot spring instead. There's available there (ask the guard for the location). It'd be a little bit more cost but it's worthy... have a try!

Hari Rabu hingga Minggu itu long holiday weekend karena Idul Adha (Haj Ied). Di Bandung ada permainan "Saung Angklung Udjo" dengan alat musik yang terkenal. Hot Spring nya penuh banget ya. Semoga Carles dan Natalie menyukai Bandung, Ciwidey dan Lembang. Mudah-mudah Natalie dan Carles bisa mengunjungi Kawah Putih (White Crater) di Ciwidey sebagai pengganti Tangkuban Perahu. Kawah Putih juga bagus didekat sana ada "Situ Patenggang" or Patenggang Lake ditengahnya ada small island "Love Island" and "Ciwalini Hot Spring". Jangan lupa lanjut ke "Dragon Village" dan "Grand Canyon" of West Jawa. Di Jawa Barat ada Kampung Badui Dalam di Bantan mereka masih hidup di semi - historic area. Di Bogor (near Jakarta) ada "Large Botanical Garden" ini masih Jawa Barat. It might help if you ask more often. Language may be a barrier here & there but most people would try their best to give you good suggestions so you wouldn't get surprised too often with things such as transportations, accomodations and rates, especially when you're in places like Bandung & Lembang which are the favorites of the local tourists' that they get too crowded during this time of the year.
