I’m 70. I can get by on my retirement income - all US government funded liabilities. Theoretically I can lose all my wealth and survive. My 30-something kids can’t. I started BTC investment 9 months ago. 5% of wealth now. It’s insurance for my kids. I’m struggling with going above 5%. My sticking point is not logic, it’s relationship. I “like” my broker. He is stuck on BTC as ponzi. The test for me will be going to 10%. It will change the relationship with the guy who ably managed the wealth of my close family across 30 years. Saylor, Foss, Booth - all engineers who understand street economics. Never understood macroeconomics before. Their engineering perspective and practical monetary and financial experience opened my eyes.

The Independent evaluation group (IEG) has on their website the opportunity infographic about the natural asset corporations and it shows that the traditional economy has goods and services at a value of 90 trillion, asset value of 512 trillion in the traditional existing economy, but nature's economy has an asset value of 4,000 trillion. Bitcoin does have counter party risk. Risk one is you need energy to run the engine. No energy no bitcoin. Two you need a stable internet. No internet no bitcoin. Three you need on ramps and off ramps. Control those ramps and it becomes difficult to transact. Gold has none of these issues and actually has NO counter party risk.
