Such a powerful way to show that Ghoul Cooper still very much has his humanity, just that he's jaded. The "look at the flowers" moment had me tearing up, but it's really cool seeing his emotions slip through, like shooting the billboard that reminds him of his past (since he's pretty much the vault-boy), to what appears to be him trying to teach Lucy the ways of the wasteland, though probably in a spiteful "trying to break her" sort of manner at first since he does sell her off ALSO I like to think that Maximus always says the wrong things because just like the games, you can attempt to tell lies and it's a stat check based on your Charisma stat, and Maximus probably just keeps failing the checks so he just says something the wrong way
@johnplaysgames31205 ай бұрын
To be fair, the Ghoul only decides to sell Lucy because he needs the money for vials since his supply is gone. On the other hand, he did use her as Gulper bait so, y'know, his empathy only goes so far. And I agree about Maximus failing speech checks (bc his rizz stat seems low), but it also seems pretty clear that he has most of his points in Endurance (because bruh can really take a beating and keep getting up) but not so many points in Intelligence.

So Nat, just to give you some insight. When Lucy inspects the NCR flag (two headed bear) and the music starts to swell, that moment tends to give fans of the games the chills. The NCR is a fan favorite faction in the games and the song playing is the actual Fallout theme song (which is only played twice in the show I believe), so it is a pretty powerful moment.

@@crimsonghoul8983 tomatoes are both fruit AND vegetable. So it’s not really that far fetched.
@golden--hand5 ай бұрын
@@crimsonghoul8983 They are both genetically in the same family, the nightshade family. In fact, with grafting (This means to cut off the top of one plant and fuse it to a branch or the root system of another) you can actually attach the top of a tomato plant and the bottom of a potato plant to have a plant that grows potatoes and tomatoes with the same plant. These plants are called Pomato in real life. An alternatively used name is a Tomato, but I'm pretty sure this is the same thing effectively. People often do this grafting technique with fruit trees so you can have one tree that can have many different types of fruits, look up the "Tree of 40 fruits" if you wanna see more on that. In Fallout I'm pretty sure its implied the plant is a cross-pollination of the two plants so they only produce Tatos, rather then both tomatoes and potatoes. Which I'm pretty sure to date is not possible. They aren't anywhere genetically similar enough for that. BUT, there is reason for the idea of it being plausibly believable in the fallout universe with the plants being part of the same family :) Also, artificial meat is a thing in this reality already. Lab grown meat is already sold in some other countries and there are several companies working on getting it ready for shelves elsewhere too. Its another, totally different, neat topic worth looking into.

I find the character developement is sooo masterfully handled in this show. Lesser writing would have Lucy say something like the Ghouls daughter and he would almost immediately switch to “a good guy”. Instead the development here is so realistic, subtle and slow. The ghouls is getting small tiny parts of his humanity and how he used to be fed to him. Him watching his movie scene reminded him he used to be a man of principle. And while he is indeed strong and ugly he has become the villian and lost all dignity and the man he once was. I think the flashback of him arguing with the director about his character not shooting the villian in that scene would have fit better happening when he watched it and been more impactful. But I get why they had it at the beginning of the episode too. Also this Right after Lucy showed him compassion and humanity and gave him the vials. Same with Lucy. She didn’t instantly become a ruthless person who abandoned how she was. She has made some changes but is still trying to stay true to how she was and who she is. Love it all. 10/10

Like I know a real one would be different from the game, but if you had half the functionality of the one from the game that would be an awesome little tool. Especially since it's all local, so it's not reliant on GPS tracking or a satellite uplink. And a personal Geiger counter would be fun too.

A smoothie is indeed a contraction of smoothskin, a ghoul term for a regular human. I love that although they could reprogram the medical Mr Handy, they couldn't eliminate the original programming entirely and it needs to fix Lucy up before trying to harvest her organs. In the Fallout universe atomic power basically fascinated everyone before the war. They revered and feared it at the same time. Cars were powered by mini nuclear reactors. Pretty sure that Mr. Handy robot is too. Brands very often fell into that atomic theme. Radiation King electronics gear as you saw, but also Nuka Cola, General Atomics. Or atomic weapon themed, Sugar Bombs candy or Red Rocket service stations and the like. When Lucy lifts the flag in the classroom in Vault 4, the flag itself and even moreso the music that plays at the same time, have a lot of significance for players of the games. The Golden Rule is generally misunderstood as "Be kind to others" without any actual obligation to the receiving party, but in the hope that they will repay your kindness with the same. And while that may be true, it is not the whole story. You see, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is not currently interpreted as a rule as much as an axiom. The difference being that a rule must be obeyed, an axiom is merely a premise that is accepted as true. When someone repays your kindness with cruelty are they breaking the Golden Rule? No. If you believe that The Golden Rule is in fact a rule then they are telling you how they want to be treated. It does not matter if they are unaware of The Golden Rule, because you and only you get to decide how to react. By showing cruelty they are in fact giving you permission to return that cruelty in kind according to the rule. I don't believe that it obligates you to do the same however. You may choose to continue to show kindness in the face of their cruelty, to turn the other cheek for whatever reason, but you are not morally obligated to do so. That is the flip side of The Golden Rule, the part nobody ever talks about. If an enemy throws rocks at you, you are morally justified under the rule in picking up those rocks and throwing them back, but you are not obligated to do so. If however you decided to throw back hand grenades instead of rocks you would be telling your enemy that you want to escalate the hostility, which would allow them to do the same, and in most cases I'm guessing that would probably not be a wise thing to do. After all, we're not talking about revenge here, we're talking about reciprocity. One is proportional and morally justified, it facilitates accountability. The other not so much. To quote Yes-Man from Fallout New Vegas, "We have options!" Let's not limit them.

Nat, I know that's what Patreon is for, but could you extend the length of the videos? Episodes are one-hour and the final result it's a super reduced version without much context
