There is no guitarist I particularly love listening to but Ernie is out of this world. The reason I love him is because he plays such melodic riffs that are easy to listen to, and they're not always super fast or too show off, they're perfectly sweet and sensual and truly touches the heart and soul. I especially love his solo in Summer Breeze. The only reason I'd like to learn the electric guitar is to learn this song, voyage and summer breeze. Isley brothers is the first soul band I discovered and ever since then soul is my favorite genre and Isley brothers my favorite band.

I listen to this song when I want to get away from the world, all my sorrows, my problems, my pain. Ernie Isley's guitar always has a way of making me forget my troubles and putting a smile to my face. With tears flowing, I salute Mr Isley, and am so thankful and grateful for growing up listening to the isley brothers songs. Ernie Isley is the greatest guitar player ever. Never have I heard Riffs that are so crisp and clear. Quite humbling to say the least. We should all thank and cherish the Isley brothers for their contributions to mankind.

Without question Ernie Isley is one of the greatest guitarist in history. He was influenced by the great Jimmi Hendrix and took that influence and made his own style. It always amazed me how he is not talk about in this respect. He can hold his own with all the great rock guitarist and in my opinion he has no equal. He can play hard riffs and also melodic passages with ease. He is a master guitar player in every right. He gives the Isley Brothers sound a uniqueness that no soul group can match. Ron Isley has a minimalist way of delivering his lyrics along with Ernie's guitar accenting the verses makes for a dynamite combination.

Luetisha Thomas Ernie says himself that Hendrix showed him things on the guitar not the other way around. Ernie also said he didn’t get his first guitar until 68. Hendrix has been doin his thing by then. Still both are great players but Hendrix absolutely influenced the coming waves of r&b and funk guitar players.

When Bryan-my so heard Earnie’s Jam-he loved it and actually went & bought a guitar. I miss my son so much but when I play Ernie’s Jam it brings a big smile to my face & then the tears follow. I will always lofeyou & Thank you for 3 of my grand children & all 4 of my great grand children. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

its a badass tune , but im gonna say this because its true '', they wouldn't allow Hendrix to expand his music when he played backup for them , and they were jealous as hell and really along with the rest of the jealous artists in new York , where they were performing back then wouldn't allow Hendrix to be part of their SO CALLED FAMILY AND TEAM'' why he went to England to get away from all this envious b.s. here from the musicians and his supposed brothers'', yeah right'' they threw eggs at him in harlem , on stage'', why Hendrix put in that one song im a voodoo child , im gonna come back here and buy this town and put it in my shoe'' he was referring to the isleys and new york'', truth be known'' so'''

It's Friday night, 3:30 a.m. and Wow!, what can I say. Never really listened to this before, but now it's one of the best songs I ever heard. Listened to it like 10 times in a row. Kind of like gospel, you know. Got into my spirit. God is telling each of us to be the best we can. Let your spirit soar like the singing and guitar on this song. Was feeling kind of down, but now I am inspired. Think I will go to church on Sunday. Thanks for the post, and thank you Isleys, my favorite group along with the O'Jays and the Delfonics.

Hello MrR. Oh I know. I made that comment about 5 months ago...at the time I just didn't understand what it was that those people didn't like. But I'm learning I can't please everyone so ...it is what it is. Thanx for your positive feedback...its really appreciated.

It's funny how "old fashioned" Ernie's guitar sounds, today. Could be because I'm getting old, but even so, he was always able to fit his solos and fills into the incredible vocals laid down by his older brothers in ways that still sound seamless. His work was popularized in Who's that Lady and Summer Breeze, but I still consider his long exit solo on Hope You Feel Better Love my favorite guitar solo of all time. Nice stumbling onto your corner, Nataly. I'm pretty much a rock & blues guy, nowadays, but I remember soul & funk with affection. In 1978, while stationed in Germany, I was the guitarist in a band with some Army guys called "Soul, Satin, and Silk." We played great tunes of the time, but I couldn't convince them to do any Isley Bros.

Thanks for visiting Nataly's Corner David! I think Ernie Isley's guitar playing is really wicked and he ranks right up there with other known guitarists like Jimi Hendrix and Gary Moore. Like you said, when you listen to Who's That Lady, Summer Breeze, and favorite tracks like Atlantis, it doesn't get any better than that. He's extraordinary. thanks for visiting Nataly's Corner for listening to the music.

Ernie's solo on "That Lady" is in my opinion, the greatest guitar solo ever!

Natalie - thanks so much for posting, and for helping to expose a new audience to these guys. I've loved the Isleys since buying their 3+3 album in 1973, and to this day can never understand why Ernie Isley is not rated one of the top 20 guitar players of all time. His combination of technical mastery and musicality is extraordinary. And don't worry about the thumbs down. These people just need their ears syringing.

Hello. pleasure to meet you and thanks for visiting the Channel. I'm always hoping to share the kind of great music that is timeless...and the Isley Brothers music is just that. My parents raised me on their music. I totally agree with you about Ernie....he's the next Jimi Hendrix as far as I'm concerned...
