doesn't anyone know how to coach the"hard foul" in the W, jeez we used to run drills on it, we put mats down for this, the plan was to go to the hole with the ball and the defender had to foul without letting the ball get above the shoulders without impacting the head. this was in the early 80s in high school. does anyone teach basics any more? you trap the arms, not the head...

Memo to Sides, Clark has the ball and draws two defenders, memo to Sides this means that there is a player open, memo to Sides, Clark gets the ball to them and guess what PTS are on the board Memo to Sides, pulling your number two rebounder Clark with 9 rebounds as a defensive move is almost as bad as dumping your number one defender.

There has been too much dirty play in this league as compared to the men’s game since I started watching which admittedly has been pretty recently. Similarly in women’s college basketball same thing too many dirty plays and especially too much smack talk and hand gestures. That said.. I don’t regard this particular foul as necessarily dirty but I would have called it a flagrant also as it was restricting/making sure the body couldn’t rise to score as opposed to going after the ball.

I don’t see a flagrant. I do see a common foul though. As Cloud was going for the ball, Samuelson appears to stop her upward motion, duck down, tuck the ball in her left arm, instead of going up with the shot as Cloud anticipated. Cloud’s momentum took her pass Samuelson as she was still trying to get to the ball, but was more and more out position. In other words, Samuelson’s body was in between Cloud and the ball and Cloud couldn’t get to it. So her arms inadvertently were around her neck and shoulders(not choking her). I didn’t see any harm done or her hands actually touching her neck. It seems like Samuelson was unharmed in the process. I didn’t see her fall or pulled away with Cloud’s momentum. In the words of Clark, It is what it is. 😁 Glad nobody was hurt.
