Maybe it’s just me but I feel like Alter Ego is stealing. I can’t imagine working on a palette for a year and then someone comes and knocks it off. I work in creative so maybe I’m more sensitive about intellectual property 🤷🏼‍♀️

The people that buy the alter ego palettes, if they end up really liking them they usually end up buying the Natasha denona because it's a better formula lasts longer and blends better or, they were never going to spend the money on a Natasha denona palette anyway. also a lot of these bigger companies steal ideas, Concepts and things from smaller independent companies it's just we never hear about it because they're rich so they can saturate the market and make their dupe seem like an original so in my opinion I think it's fair game but I get what you're saying

Same! Alter ego has built their whole brand on the artistic visions of someone else, they are profiting off other peoples creativity ...and it just feels wrong. Natasha Denona is SO passionate about her work, and she’s really interactive with her fans/customers. I always see her responding to comments & answering questions on Instagram. Also Natasha Denona isn’t owned by a large parent company, it’s technically an indie brand which makes this even more annoying.

I’ve always thought the same; it’s like stealing intellectual property. I don’t know how they get away with it. I’m assuming ND maybe isn’t aware of it or they don’t do anything about it because of the risk of losing and the cost of litigation. AE probably change it enough so that it is ‘inspired by’ ND and not ‘copied’.

I know not everyone can afford ND and it’s great that they make at least very close dupes. I personally have to save if I want something high end, that said I have a LOT of makeup, more than the average person needs. It’s not my regular job but I did train years ago in it and do enjoy doing it on others. I have hundreds of brushes. Brushes, complexion products and palettes are my weakness. I have hundreds of affordable ones that work absolutely fine, but I will say, my high end ones are not to be beaten. I’ve got some that are 3 figures a brush, believe me it shows! They work beautifully. I prefer to invest in tools for that perfected look as I believe you’re only as good as the tools in your hands!

I love that there's something for everyone, you can buy the Natasha Denona or you can buy the Alter Ego. There's a safe option for people who want the same look. I prefer the Natasha Denona quality and I love her products but when I couldn't afford them I bought the Alter Ego. If someone can't afford or doesn't want to buy luxury makeup which is a choice and not a necessity they don't have to. Dupes are what bring competitive prices to the market. Maybe Natasha will only make $65 eyeshadow palettes now since people are buying the dupe ones left and right, maybe it gives her reason to make the products affordable or more affordable. I will not be buying any Natasha Denona palettes over $65 but I love the dupes.

I was wrong. I thought MY left. IMO, AE is smoother (less textured) but ND is more foiled. Can’t decide which I prefer tbh. I do prefer more pigment but at that price difference.... the colour story would have to wow me. I want the ND Love palette. Which is actually accessible to me since you can’t get AE in the uk.

So you said the Alter Ego shade “Scorch” was the dupe for both ND shades “True Copper” & “True Bronze”. Do u know which is correct? I know a lot of these shades are pretty similar to each other (hence why I think ND is overrated)

Your left eye is definitely Natasha. The colors look deeper, smoother and richer... dupes never look good on me because the pigment doesn’t have the richness as the original and they fade so much quicker(especially noticeable on dark skin). Also the dupe palettes always have horribleeeeeeee fallout and don’t work well without primer where the original Palettes, you don’t need to put any effort in(no primer, no heavy blending, no fallout). I always given my dupe palettes away... I won’t spend another dollar on them. There are cheap brands that make decent shadows colourpop, ELF or Milani

Absolutely! While so called dupe palettes might have a similar color story the actual formulas are worlds apart! I’d rather own just one really amazing palette with a fabulous formula ( Pat, Natasha, Viseart) than have 50 mediocre dupe palettes to choose from! These dupe brands won’t see a penny from me!

MyKit M you think it’s so cheap but It ended up being more expensive ordering from these “Dupe Brands” because I would buy them then give them away because the bad quality. On KZbin videos they look good because the cameras blur but in person the shadows look bad to me . Colourpop, ELF, Milani and other brands make decent shadows that work way better in my opinion

Beth Lilly yes. I spent hundreds ordering the Dupe Huda beauty and Natasha denona palettes .. a waste of money. They just don’t look nice on the eye to me... I feel like KZbin’s make it look good because their cameras have blurring and smoothing effects but in person.. no wayyyy

I guessed ND was on you’re left eye, now I know though why it didn’t look as good as usual, the brushes are not there compared rephr brushes. I’ve got some of the natural bristle morph and I’ve got to be honest, I’ve been really impressed with their blending. My set is just missing a couple of brushes, a good pointed detail brush and a smaller firm blending brush. I’m still struggling slightly with some looks getting very deep shades to go neatly into the outer corner and blend seemlessly. I’m using an elf brush for that at moment and it isn’t the best, it’s a bit too rough. The Morphe brushes really do wash well too. I’ve washed them twice, got them for Xmas and it isn’t even end of January, I’m on fire with my brush cleaning for once. I must say the E63 wide angle foundation brush is divine to use. It’s a dupe for the Smith 151 which I couldn’t get as nowhere had it in stock and also considerably cheaper. It applied the Tarte Maracuja hydrator in a way it melted into my skin with really good coverage, but not a whole lot of product. X

I ordered the Love pallet for a Christmas present to myself and have had nothing but problems with the pallet. The colors wont stick on my inner eyelid they completely disappear from inner corne winding up above transition line. This actually happens before putting on mascara. I have never seen anything like it before. I tried with hourglass veil primer only and with hourglass primer and setting powder. Contacted ND they blamed user and said I was stuck with the pallet since I opened the pallet. I took pictures on third attempt posted on ND Facebook instant message. ND requested that I email photos. That was 4 days ago, I'm still waiting. Tomorrow if I don't hear from them I will contact the credit card company. Giving you all the heads up don't buy direct from ND there's no return policy if product isn't good.

I feel it’s easy to spot ND. The swatches, especially for the Bronze palette, may be very close but for me it’s the longevity & true quality of the shadows. I’m not a huge fan of this brand. I tried the ND Gold dupe and was left feeling “meh” - dusty & powdery with poor staying power. More affordable options are great for the color stories and I realize there’s a market for that but I’d rather buy quality or pass altogether. Instead of a copied palette I go for Indy brands with really good quality shadows for a fraction of the price. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Love your video tho - as always!
