I honestly would have taken it out given all the termite damage throughout the house. I understand she worked really hard on it and it means a lot to her but I'd rather hurt her feelings and make sure it's repaired rather than try to appease her versus it turns into a really big problem down the line 🤷🏻♀️

I find, generally, with these designers that they spend ALOT of money on material things like sofas and tables, etc. Whereas the money should be going towards the structure not fluff.
