We’ll paint; we’ll learn; we’ll do this and we’ll do that. Life happens, money get’s tight, things breakdown, and they found themselves in a project house and didn’t know how to or where to start. It's fun and interesting to see how the interior design differed between Europe and the United States in the 80's. In Sweden we never had brown shades and a lot of wood in the 80s. Everything would be white, black and gray along with glass and chrome. As a color scheme we had pink, yellow, turquoise, purple, light blue and red such as pastel colors. We were very influenced by the Memphis group and everything that was Italian. The 80's decor I see in the video belongs to the late 70's. And it's hated forever.

@@pleinaire8698 .and....I'm not sure we could say that the USA is known for its good taste.
@Steph-yz4tn3 жыл бұрын
That design is not 80's but 70's. The 80s in the US had similar designs as Europe. Older people would design their homes this way in the 80s. If you look at 80s movies and TV shows, they do not have the homes designed this way.
@jekku46883 жыл бұрын
it's funny, I can now look at a house/apartment/duplex and just KNOW what "era" it was built in. Like, in the 90s, somehow everyone thought that an angled kitchen counter and weird corners was super cool. Uh. Not. And now 10-20 years down the road everyone will have that "grayed out" wood on their floors and cabinets, and people will hate them, LOL.
@suzannahdarcy69032 жыл бұрын
I agree. I'm in Canada, and the 80s was all white & black with pink and turquoise. Lots of plastic and chrome. That house says "70s" to me too.

Since I don't have cable, I watch a lot of YT to get my fix with different shows. I really like Nate and Jeremiah. They are pretty down to earth, unlike some other design, reno, sell your house shows that I watch. I will say, I know some of these shows are scripted to an extent, but the husband in this one rubbed me the wrong way. The fact that he said that his wife was somewhere at some store picking out countertops, he hoped that she was making good choices. OMG! The arrogance of that statement that he wasn't sure to trust his wife to make a design choice for THIER home. It was obvious that he couldn't DIY himself out of a paper bag!

This guy Jeremiah looks like anything but someone who deals with this kind of work, showing up dressed as if he were on the way to a dinner party. Gotta love that. Too many of the HGTV houses look like showrooms, and not really made for people with children. Kids tend to be quite messy, and when designers choose all of that light-color furniture and elements, don't take into account stains all over the place from spilled milk or juices. Don't even get me started on the open-space kitchen islands requiring maintenance to look presentable 24/7. Otherwise you'd just close the door till you're done with everything.

@@soniaharrison1016 I hear you! I wouldn’t, you wouldn’t, a lot of other people wouldn’t either. Given that Nate and Jeremiah’s services must cost a bundle, together with free furnishings, I just assumed that this couple did it for the money. Maybe you’re right and I’m wrong 🤷♀️ and she’s just a nasty person. BUT…from what I’ve read there are reports of HGTV shows with situation set ups. On Love It or List It I’ve read that they’ve already made their decision and there is no debate. On Chip and Joanna’s old show the couple had already bought the one for renovation, the “showings” of three homes at the beginning include the one they’ve bought. I find it hard to believe that the couple on Property Brothers had never seen the show and didn’t realize the spectacular home with everything on their wish list was out of their price range, so forth and so on. TV, who knows?
