The thing Quintin Tarantino said at the end of the video really stuck with me: “If you truly love cinema, you can’t help but make a good movie.” This is coming from a guy who never went to film school and who never even considered being a director when he grew up. He was just a normal guy who worked at a local movie store and just loved movies.

@muhtada_agad
@muhtada_agad Ай бұрын
@yo-sn6ss Determining whether something is truly your passion can be challenging, especially when fear of losing interest clouds your judgment. Here are some ways to explore whether it's a lasting passion or a passing phase: ### 1. **Evaluate Your Consistency** - Ask yourself how long you've felt drawn to this interest. True passions often endure, even if your intensity fluctuates. - Do you keep returning to it despite obstacles or distractions? ### 2. **Observe How It Makes You Feel** - When you're engaged in this activity, do you feel energized, fulfilled, or deeply satisfied? - Does time seem to fly by when you're doing it? ### 3. **Think About Its Role in Your Life** - Do you find yourself naturally prioritizing it over other activities? - Is it something you talk about, think about, or plan around frequently? ### 4. **Experiment with Commitment** - Dedicate more time to it and see how it fits into your life. - Try exploring it in new ways or challenging yourself with higher goals. Does this deepen your connection, or do you lose interest? ### 5. **Separate Fear from Passion** - Fear that your passion will pass often stems from self-doubt or external pressure. Instead, focus on the joy and meaning it brings you. - Understand that passions can evolve. It’s okay if your interest shifts; what matters is how it serves your growth and fulfillment now. ### 6. **Check for Alignment** - Does this activity align with your values, goals, and vision for your life? - Would you pursue it even if you didn’t gain external rewards like money or recognition? ### 7. **Talk to Yourself** - Ask, *"If this interest disappeared tomorrow, how would I feel?"* - Imagine your life without it. Would something feel missing, or would you feel relief? True passions are less about permanence and more about the positive impact they have on your life. If you’re afraid it will pass, honor your current feelings and see where it leads. Over time, clarity will come.

Out of necessity I moved from commercial advertising photographer to corporate film maker (Covid ruined my business!) and I absolutely LOVE it. Ironically now I want to spend all my time making videos the photography has exploded too. I honestly believe it’s because people can feel the passion I have for all this but nothing compares to that feeling when it all comes together, you’re editing your footage and the results are ‘almost’ what you envisioned. This video was a joy to watch and beautifully edited. I have 2 short stories that I wrote and have always wanted to share. Maybe short film is the solution! Thank you for the inspiration. 💯💯💯😊

Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott's advice were the best and they're applicable to game development also. First just look, only pay attention to the picture, then close your eyes and just listen to how nice the movie/game sounds. Two separate disciplines, patience or stamina and required to get both right. Steven Spielberg's advice to study old movies is also good, or paintings.

Getting the message or visual out there through the actual medium itself is what drives me as I know from an early age when I worked on a radio commercial (30’s) and it aired locally for one whole month. This taught me the value of the medium and the unlimited potential of what I could accomplish.

The commercial was 30 seconds and it was for a local business who liked it. I was 13 years old when I did this which ultimately planted the seeds. A radio producer tweaked it on my last day (Life Skills Week) and cleaned it up but kept it as I created it.

So. i'll raise up my forehead and i'll get ahead. I know i will make it.

Great compilation of directors' quotes. But the music feels like I'm crying while the directors are calming me down because I made a really bad film lol. It's distracting and a bit of a cliche. But great work on compiling the quotes.
