To all those people here who has nothing else to do than criticize her...she is wearing a saree...okay?!!! A bit differently..but still it's not revealing...for why on Earth do people like you feel the need to pull her down..I mean you guys couldn't find faults in her dance so you thought you would criticize her for her costume...I mean there is a limit to jealousy too right??? All these perfect people who has all the knowledge in bharathanatyam more than Nataraja...please come forward and feel free to show us your talents... anything is fine singing or dancing or drawing...afterall it would be a blessing to all of us to witness such talents🥴...Now I know this isn't gonna change anything...but lemme tell you one thing...just because she uploaded this on social media platforms...it doesn't mean it is a license for you all to spread negative comments about her..!
@so2337sn4 жыл бұрын
Rupika Ramakumar I just wrote to another woman who used the word modest and said she needs to dress more modest. Like how much more can she be modest? Her entire body is covered!! And this is a comment from another woman. We are our own insult. When women stop disgracing each other, women as a whole will advance to better heights. It’s the negativity and shaming that has held us back further below men in pay, rights etc. Only the new generation can change these stupid views of ancient times. 💪🏽
@so2337sn4 жыл бұрын
When women don’t respect and protect women, how do you expect men to? How do you expect your sons, your brothers, your husbands, and your fathers to? Some food for thought for all the women!! If you have daughters you will learn soon. This prejudice has to stop. Treating men in our culture as if they are allowed to be, to do whatever they wish while women aren’t and criticized for every little thing.
@m.f.m10064 жыл бұрын
They can criticize but that doesn't make her less AMAIZING. I LOVE her dance, her saree.. is just BEAUTIFUL.
@stefmircea22104 жыл бұрын
Still, I, as a man I am able to dress myself in a saree better then her in this video. This is a fact. It is an obvious observation of a piece of clothing arranged in a deranged manner that steals from her performance., that's all... Sometimes we just don't care, and maybe she was in that mood, but that means you should expect this kind of observation... And anyway, for sure, any traditional dance gurus would notice this aspect because in arts everything is important, and discipline includes our way we wear the clothes in which we perform.
@rupikaramakumar36304 жыл бұрын
@@stefmircea2210 Sir as a woman..now lemme say something...there is nothing called a proper way of doing things... especially in art...I mean all the musicians if you take for example,no two singers sing a composition in the same way right? I mean they shouldn't either...they have the freedom to improvise it the way they want..maybe it won't be acceptable by the other...that doesn't make it wrong though...now coming to her dress...she is an independent artist now...and as for a saree you can wear it any way you want... it's all about comfort..the person who is wearing it should be comfortable..now if the ones who are watching aren't comfortable..then clearly the problem is with us...not with her..This is my opinion.

Ok so I read all the comments, and here is my honest opinion. I love watching you and you videos. You are the embodiment of elegance. I see the modern women in you. In awe with the dance and at the same time, how you keep yourself fit.Someone commented disliking on your body being athletic. That shows their insecurities. One should experiment with the art, to connect to the masses. And you do ♥️

Hi ma'am. I came to watch this after seeing your Instagram post. I am a big fan of your work and follow you on Instagram. I must say, it takes years of delving yourself into an art form to reach this phase where you are confident and comfortable to be creative with it without losing the aesthetics. People who can't understand this have really never given themselves a chance to even look out of the box..!! Kudos to you.... Keep enchanting! ♥️
@archieshmathisadashy42024 жыл бұрын
I've read so many comments on that and this style. Each style in Bharathanatyam has its own grace and beauty. Appreciate the beauty of it rather than thinking that this style has rigid movements and this style doesn't. Art is beyond these limitations. If you like one dance, like it and love it. If you don't like some other dance, keep the opinion to yourself, coz you have no right to disrespect that artist's hardwork.

I understand that here she is performing dance as a worship in the temple... But, frankly, i do not understand that there is not one professionally made video with such performances. Not movie-cuts or filming it on the stage, but a proper dance video. Traditional dance in India is mesmerizing and a meditation true eyes and sound, I wish there would be more qualitative videos of Indian traditional dancers. Particularly such magic ones.

Honestly my opinion is that the artist has given her best to this. The expressions are very appropriate for this item since abhinaya is not very dominant in this item. The dancer has shown beautiful expressions signifying grandeur and this is not an "angry" expression. The camera work was not my favorite however since the perspective and angle changed every few seconds and was on the distracting side. But overall her performance was simply too marvellous for words. And about her costume..... It is simply the dancer's choice and the type of item that decides the costume. Honestly I wouldn't go for this kind of an outfit since i would not be comfortable but the artist seems at ease. I also think that a fast paced item needs to have a less flowy costume but the dancer has her own comfort zone and she has every right to do what she likes. I've read all the comments and i can't understand how this outfit is indecent. Versatility does not corrupt the art form or diminish it in any way. Art is a person's way to express themselves and there is no compulsion to adhere to the guidelines very strictly. And just because she follows a different style it doesn't mean that it's not Bharatanatyam. Art is something that keeps evolving. It has changed a great deal during the past centuries and it will only continue to do so. I don't understand the need to mock her athleticism. It is infact a huge part of dance. Grace is not the only attribute of dance. It can also be rigid and powerful. I feel that the dancer has expressed this beautifully. It is also very wrong to say that she is allergic to criticism. She is very polite when replying to negative comments and only asks for clarifications regarding it. Everyone has the right to express opinion but there is a very clear difference between criticism and plainly being mean. Constructed feedback is okay even if it's negative but the dance Nazis here are taking it up several notches.

Thank you for your art! What great poise and talent! Please consider the following as an opinion on the editing and not on your dance :) For a viewer to connect to a dance video as if they were there in person requires establishing perspective. The heavy editing, with constantly changing/snapping camera angles and depth, especially in the first half, makes it very hard to follow your movements, let alone how they transition from one to the next. Maybe the location and lighting required this kind of editing. But it most definitely hampered my appreciation of your art.
Classical dance ie always good when saree is dapper as it is advised.. It's more of modern dance performance than traditional form of Bharatnatyam is in reality.
