Speaking of psychometry horror stories, a mentalist at a local magic show happened to take one of my objects; it was a generic white pair of wireless ear buds. He literally had no idea what it was. He spent at least 2 minutes guessing everything from lip balm to candy. He got frustrated, ripped off the blind fold, and screamed "wth is this?" It wasn't obvious what it was even after he looked directly at it. I felt really bad for giving him that object, but not going to lie, it was kind of funny. It shows that performers need to be prepared for every situation, no matter how improbable it is.

I performed “ baffler” envelope, psychometry, for years, just returning the objects! You have to kind of build up the last two for a climax! So, as long as you play it pretty fast and you build up the last two plays pretty well as you get confidence . Then you can start with a little reading and get comfortable with that then read about cold reading and add to it each time you perform it.😅

About 45 years ago, I was working with Graham P Jolly (great mentalist), and his routine was a few brown envelopes; his presentation made it great, so less we forget, the simpler the props, the better the effect it is, the presentation that sells it, having fancy red bags, in my opinion, diminishes the effect.

I had a set of the Maurice Fogel bags made. The description of these is available in the book, “in search of the sensational.” Regardless of how good your eyesight is, these bags will work for you. When I perform this routine, I say, “put something personal in the bag. Personal items are not condoms, feminine hygiene, products, or coins, unless this is your lucky coin, which is unique to you. Once I hand you the bag, it has your energy on it and therefore, the item must be yours.” If someone does put a condom in the bag, I say, “the owner of this object has waited a very long time to use this object. This object is also far too large for the owner…” This is very entertaining and goes over very well.
