Guys, it's not uncommon for a singer/band to change the key and/or octave to a song when playing acousticly. It just gives in a different sound, mood, and feel. Doesn't really mean that he uses autotune (further proof of that is if you can find a video of "Branded" performed live with a full band minus drums) For example, Set It Off lowered their song "Bleak December" an octave because it made it sound much more personal and like he's talking to the person. I personally feel like Nate changing the key for this song (and StopRewind) was the best decision. Him performing it by himself with just an acoustic guitar and no one else in the original key, wouldn't have much feel to it as this one does. Especially since the full band is what really helps the mood of the song in the higher key.

I’ve seen videos of Nate performing live and he sounds so much better unedited when he is on his own like this then when he is in front of a crowd. He has so much talent but people think it’s all fake and edited because his voice gets unstable because he is nervous in front of a crowd.

If you like his acoustic songs check out his ep called "Mangled" it features like three or four acoustic versions of his songs. The whole ep isn't acoustic but it's pretty good either way. He also has his own youtube channel which features original songs and parodies of different things like Zelda, Steven Universe, Pokemon, etc.

This is the point when I realized how auto-tuned he truly is. I wanted so hard to like him, but if he has this much trouble blending without it then you know you have a problem. Idk I still love him and there's nothing wrong with auto-tune but I just though he was better than this.

I have to agree. I see everyone praising him, and don't get me wrong I absolutely love nate, but the lives seem to be his weak spot. Shame because he's such a talented songwriter but his voice almost sounds untrained.

Kaptain Koopa Kirby Yeah. He uses too much studio magic. But what's surprising is his utter failure to sing in the key of the song almost entirely throughout. He's almost always half a semitone flat.

Kaptain Koopa Kirby I'm sure it's just that he's finally starting to play live shows and he's not used to it. Consider 2017 Nate as 1999 Linkin Park. No disrespect to my boi here, but he really isn't all that impressive live. I know he's into metalcore, which is a genre of music that encompasses both screaming (fry screaming and false cord screaming; high and low tones) and singing. This genre is pretty notorious for poor live performances in terms of singing because of how hard it is to go from screaming to singing. When they do transition, though, the singing sounds akin to Nate singing live. I think Nate isn't setting a very high standard for himself when singing live.
