I'm just halfway through this & it just amazes me the greed in the world. From scammers, drug cartels on down, etc...Also I'm amazed at the questions Marianne asks the ppl. I almost get nervous for her & sometimes think the person will say like, " Shutup! You're asking too many questions!" I think the footage has to be edited before they post the clips though. She is one heck of a woman to delve into the trenches of so much criminal activity & ask such detailed questions & even 'partake' of some of the things they are into. My deepest respect & Awe of her journalistic drive, bravery, passion, & skill she demonstrates.

Most of the people involved in this aren't even greedy. They're just surviving. Compared to cartel leaders and all the CEOs and billionaires in America, the majority of people involved in foreign drug trafficking have nothing. The closer you get to the source the less money the people there make. When it comes to the scammers I have a little less sympathy. But as for the people planting coca and extracting powder, I don't think they're doing anything wrong. Nothing worse than running a beer brewery or a distillery. People will always want coke and it's never going away. So it would be best to just offer it in pure form at pharmacies. It could come in a pharma grade nasal spray bottle where you know exactly how much the dose from one spray will be.

They drink alcohol for altitude sickness when they have nature's altitude sickness cure right there in abundance!? Coca leaves have been used for altitude sickness for thousands of years. Alcohol has no evidence supporting its use for altitude sickness, in fact, it can just make it worse. This baffles me. Have they become so disconnected from their roots that the knowledge of chewing coca leaves for medicinal benefits has been lost, or is there such a massive stigma locally that they won't even chew the leaves? Or the higher ups will kill them if they find out they chewed on a few leaves during their brutal journey on foot? I guess it could be any of those options. But there's just something sad about the fact that coca leaves are a wonderful medicine and mild stimulant that should be completely legal, yet they're used solely to make powder and horrible violence arises from this plant simply because the us gov decided that plants can be illegal and adults aren't free to alter their own consciousnesses. I've got nothing against the leaves being turned into powder, but I'm strongly against the war on consciousness which has made cartels so powerful that much of latin American is devastated beyond repair. I've only gotten to chew the leaves a few times but it's kind of like coffee with an improved mood boost and none of the jittery unpleasant side effects of caffeine. It would be wonderful if I could choose to have a cup of coca tea in the morning instead of coffee or black tea. But we're not truly free so that's not gonna happen.
