It's creatures like this that make me very fearful letting my feet anywhere near the sea floor without knowing what is there. That and stories like of my mums friend who went for a paddle in the sea, trod on a sea urchin and had to go to hospital to get the spines surgically removed, and later got an infection from it. Not poisonous but still damn painful.

Actually most people are stung by this anywhere between land and knee deep water. Their shells are very pretty, and people pick them up to keep them, thinking they're empty. When they're not, people are stung and usually die since there's no antivenom. Same story with the blue ringed octopus. It's the size of a thumb, and is very pretty and often found in tidepools and people pick them up.

Well statistics would suggest land is much more dangerous. Humans live on land. When we die it's usually from disease. When it's not disease, death usually involves some kind of human innovation, like a car.

This snail literally has a built in nail gun! It builds up poison in it’s proboscis and blocks off any before it touches the harpoon via a muscle valve, when it’s ready to shoot it opens that valve and the pressurized poison shot into the harpoon, propelling it and filling it at the same time.
