it feels very surreal watching these again after going through all the events we have and are continuing to do so. its scary that our governments and so called experts have screwed it up so badly and consistently, both sides of the pond. One things for sure those who prepared all those years ago where basically 8 - 10 years better off than those who did not, their psychology, drive and skills including the preps give such a big advantage. Hope Martin and his wife are doing ok. but NAT GEO PLEASE PLEASE DO A REVISIT OF HOW THESE PREPPERS HAVE GOT ON, its quite rare that you have this opportunity, and I think many would be very interested.

the truck driver is a likable guy i identify with. Still, he's gonna be quite a target in that 18 wheeler in a SHTF event....we are talking about Mad Max in most extreme cases...and then there's the issue of fuel, spare parts, and maintenance for the rig he's driving ...i am an expat living in Venezuela currently...at the height of the economic collapse here truck drivers were the frequent juicy target of hungry mobs at town entrance barricades and roving predatory motorcycle gangs... it still happens on isolated roadways...and may God help you if your vehicle breaks down.

What if the shtf event is only temporary? An economic or natural disaster doesn’t necessarily warrant a permanent checkout. Why not prep for an economic or natural disaster in a way that allows you to help others? Knowledge of wild foods and medicines could mean the difference between survival and death for your neighbors. It would only cost you the time to educate yourself. A first aid class would help too.

I'm a survivalist from Brazil, and I keep my preparations not for only one event, but for any kind of disaster. For example, I can use medical preparations on a virus outbreak or civil war. An crossbow can be used for hunting and defense also. I believe that is a big mistake to prepare for only one crisis scenario.

Even without a polar shift, sea level rise is very real. With global warming becoming more and more a reality, severe hurricanes are also a concern. I moved from Florida where I lived a block from the beach about 8 years ago and then moved farther inland and higher in elevation where I live now. It was becoming obvious that flooding was increasing and some places appeared to be sinking. The town I moved to is also a small town where I feel much safer. My neighbors and I look out for each other.

It seems like some people think getting prepped is just some recent crazy right-wing movement, but I'd argue that being prepped has been an important activity here in the US (and elsewhere) since the beginning of time. Preserving food by fermentation, freezing, salting, drying, smoking, canning, in root cellars: all early examples of preparing for times of scarcity. The tools, methods and reasoning behind prepping may have changed a bit, but the basic thought behind it has not. We have to be prepared for the unexpected, for us and for those who depend on us. What the unexpected is has changed over time. At one point, it was a nuclear attack. Later (in my childhood in California) it was a catastrophic earthquake. One thing hasn't changed: Better to be safe than to be sorry.

That first trucker and his wife, so sweet & got me a little teary-eyed. That second lady though needs some therapy to help reduce the severity of her anxiety/OCD. The only diseases I am concerned about are Ebola, Leprosy, Flesh-Eating Bacteria, STDS, and the potential Z-Virus. No other disease is really worth fearing, and her fear is excessive. That 3rd guy in his research should have also thought of political & societal situation of the state until the flood happens, though Tennessee ain't too bad.

I was a long haul trucker, and I have lived in Washington state, Florida, and Ohio. I would choose the Pacific northwest, particularly, Idaho and Montana, if I was choosing to move because of SHTF. You can live comfortably off grid, and away from populated areas, easily in those places. As a matter of fact, I do live in northeast Washington state, near the border of Idaho, and Canada. North Idaho is a beautiful, prepper paradise, but I try to keep that a secret. We need to keep out the undesirables.

I choose not to live in fear. Of course, there are stuff happening in our world today that we can’t control. Eventually we will all perish someday no getting away with death. Just live in the moment and enjoy it with those you love and care about. Life is short. Not everyone has the kind of money to buy all this stuff to prepare. God bless us all and let’s just all pray and be thankful for the present.

Although even in the 1st 5 minutes, I heard a couple of urban legends being spouted as fact ( For example, that China holds most of our debt. Foreign holders of American debt is about a 3rd, which is about the same as what American investors hold, with the US government holding the rest of it. See the Robert Reich videos where hes teaching economics classes), since people act on their perceptions, it is still a video worth seeing.
