Snakes are never "looking for a fight" with the exception of a few species whose males will fight with eachother for the rights to breed with the females during their breeding season. This species is actually one of those species. Ive got a male of this species thats 9 years old and hes confused me for a male reticulated python and tried to "fight me" before. Its more or less just breeding hormones making them not think very clearly though. He doesnt even realize whats going on, his brain is so flooded with hormones from smelling the adult female pythons in my house that he cant even focus on anything else. Its basically like how human males say and do stupid things around women, only to later regret how embaressing their behavior was lol.

Always surprised me the fact that developing such a way to eat was naturally selected by nature; I guess the snake is extremely vulnerable for days or even weeks to incoming predators isn't it? How on Earth can a snake survive in the wild being so vulnerable for such a long time to things like eagles or whatever?
@RoyalKnightish3 жыл бұрын
They are mostly ambush predators, so to avoid confrontation with their preys or even their own predators. However, it is true that 90 percent of them will not survive to reach certain age and size.
@sdqsdq62743 жыл бұрын
they can eat it, they can also spit it out
@noneofyourbuisness16793 жыл бұрын
Well, for one, no eagle is going to try and eat a snake that big. Adult pythons pretty much have no predators, whether that's because there aren't any animals capable of attacking them or because any other predators simply aren't interested in eating a giant snake. That said, small pythons when in such a state, will try and hide themselves as their meal digests and aggressively attempt to defend themselves if they're discovered. They don't have venom, but getting bitten by a giant snake is usually enough to ward off any hungry predator.

@alexcrowder16735 ай бұрын
@@theilluminati682Yeah there are a few genus of cobras just like there are a few genus of python (Malayopython, Aspidites, Python, Morelia, Anataresia, Simalia, etc). They are all still pythons. You are right though that Kind cobras are in a genus by themselves. Also, in movies they generally use Indian cobras instead, since they have a MUCH more impressive hood than a king cobra. Even the false cobras like false water cobras are incredibly intelligent, potentially even more so than reticulated pythons. Id also argue that African rock pythons are SLIGHTLY more intelligent than reticulated pythons. They behave quite similarly as well. Unfortunately hardly anyone gives them a chance due to their unwarranted bad reputation. I keep burmese pythons, reticulated pythons, and an African rock python among other smaller python species. @alexcrowder16735 ай бұрын
Thats true! It also has a large impact on their size. Triggering their heart and organ growth by eating a large meal also tends to trigger growth spurts. 2 snakes who were identical twins, and fed the same amount of food, could be very different sizes if one snake was fed larger more spaced out meals, and the other was fed smaller more frequent meals. This can happen even if their total calorie intakes are identical. There are a lot of mechanics to it involving organ growth and insulin spikes. There are basically feeding schedule "recipes" to make a snake reach its maximum potential size. Genetics plays a large role too of course. With any of the 5 largest python species, there is tremendous genetic variation in size potential. Some individuals will be dozens of times heavier as adults than other individuals of the same species. The maximum size range and minimum size range is particularly huge in Reticulated pythons. Some adults are only 5 or 6 ft, while others may be 20ft+. By weight, a particularly large reticulated python could feasibly be 100 times heavier than a small one, even if both are full grown adults. A lot of it has to do with how reticulated pythons have the largest range of any python. In some parts of their range, they have developed severe island dwarfism. In other parts of their range, such as Sarawak and Sulawesi, they have adapted to living with an incredible surplus of food and grow larger than average. Many people think Medusa the recordholding reticulated python is from Sulawesi, because thats what their ownets were told. However, people familiar with reticulated pythons like myself can tell that she is DEFINITELY from Sarawak. Her type of pattern simply doesnt occur in Sulawesi. She is 100% from Sarawak, because thats the only location that they look like that, and also grow huge. There are islands with similar patterns, but those animals have dwarfism, and clearly, at just over 25ft, medusa does not have island dwarfism. Meaning Sarawak is the only place she could have possibly come from.
