Male grouses looking for a mate can be interesting to watch as well as listen to! What are your thoughts on this unique mating ritual?

Nature is just full of surprises when it comes to mating calls. What a unique way to get the female's attention. Too bad the male will never get to know its young ones after, though. Thanks for sharing National Geographic.

It truly is a fascinating way to capture attention, Azliana! The grouse give proper meaning to the term "mating calls" - the sounds they make are sure to turn heads!

Just look at the fossil record! There are quite a few the gorilla-horse species for example has no living descendants yet had to be the strangest species I've ever seen its not talked about neary enough I think. Or the seabird that had sharp tooth like protrustions on its bill.

Nice vid but what kind of animals are they look like similar to chickens??
@Wingedshadowwolf
@Wingedshadowwolf 6 жыл бұрын
claire umadhay Probably, although without looking it up I might say they are more closely related to turkeys. The way the female squatted down for the male and shaking herself afterwards is very chicken like. I haven't witnessed turkeys getting it on, so I can't compare.
@GandalfTheTsaagan
@GandalfTheTsaagan 6 жыл бұрын
Acccording to wikipedia, they're phasianines phasianoids galliforms, and they're quite close to turkeys and somewhat close to chickens, partridges and quails
