Display of peacock is becoming cliche, but had the peacock been some kind of extinct bird that would be only seen on historic illustrations or famous arts we would have dearly wanted it recreated.

Well unless feather imprints were preserved, its likely we would have seen the peacock just as any other bird, its skeletal structure doesnt correlate with its fantastic feather structure Similarly with the turkey, its almost entirely fat and feathers, a skeleton makes it look like any ordinary bird

Well, that's how evolution works. If you pass on your genes before you die your kids get what you and your mate had. If they die because you passed on a fuck up chromosome and the kid had, I dunno a functional leg with foot growing out his back then bam, end of line. But if back-leg boy actually manages to get a kid that kid could have a back-leg. And if he has a bunch of back-legged kids who all manage to have children those kids have back-legs. And why? Cause they didn't die before passing on their fucked up genes. Now there's generations of people with functional legs in their backs letting them kick people behind them in the face and when they lean back to relax on the grass they have a leg to prop them up and let them recline without a chair.
