I was surprised that the end of the beak wasn't Dremeled to a point so he can actually use it to pick apart his food. That might be a major cause of the overgrowth.

The paint in the beginning is tooooo thin. When you can see ribs you need to start pumping them full of good quality hay, preferably alfalfa. It’s higher in calories and protein, far greater than grass hay. Even adding alfalfa cubes to the horses dinner (soaked). This will put on weight fast. Also, turn this horse out 24/7. Give it 24hr access to grass AND hay! In its feeds add canola oil. They say 2 cups for an average horse. You can split it morning/night. That horse I believe really just needs to put on some weight and would be fine under saddle.

I agree. I was born into horses and my first horse that I bought with my own money lol was super thin like this when we got him. I remember my Dad pumping him full of canola oil three times a day and I wasn’t allowed to ride him until he put on a couple hundred pounds. I believe this horse will be fine under saddle once he gains some weight. I hope Dr. lol addressed this with them off camera. @@peggyannroot6526

Dr. Emily and her family moved to NC. The other vet decided being filmed for the show hindered her treating her patients. Plus the long hours treating patients and trying to film, making sure the producers got the shot they wanted was just too much. Last I knew she was still there working but not being filmed. Hope this helps.

That little paint mare is underweight! She needs some good care and food and rest. Those people are overworking her and underfeeding her...look at how her spine sticks out and how her ribs show..not okay! They need to learn how to care for a horse correctly!
@scareless48 Жыл бұрын
I agree!! I was shocked at how underweight she was!!
@Asti.sayAhstee Жыл бұрын
Maybe she’s dropped a few pounds from being more active but ribs and spine showing a bit in itself doesn’t mean a horse is underweight. If the hip bones are becoming prominent and face starts looking sunken then there’s a problem. The vet would have told them she needed to put on some weight. Too many people over feed and we get used to seeing chubby horses. The crime here was eventing without ensuring a properly fitting saddle. More than a different pad is needed as the vet said. I think the problem is obvious and many owners would know the horse couldn’t be ridden for awhile and to address the fit. Kudos to them for seeing the vet to make sure nothing else was amiss.
@scareless48 Жыл бұрын
@@Asti.sayAhstee Horse was obviously under weight Add improper pad and ill fitting saddle, you have a very sore horse.
@lisaeaker9064 Жыл бұрын
Completely agree you should never see a horses bones and that's why she has sore because she's too skinny
@Asti.sayAhstee Жыл бұрын
I took a 2nd closer look and noticed the neck line… the neck is thin, so yes, I see now the horse is very likely underweight. My arm chair analysis. That she’s barrel racing this horse is why I didn’t call it based on ribs alone. Very active horses can be muscled but lean with ribs showing & they’re not at an unhealthy weight. Racing thoroughbreds are a good example. I’m betting that young lady gave her folks an argument so they let her hear from the vet to give her mare a rest. They’re suppose to be really good vets so I’ll trust they talked to her off camera about more than saddle sores & saddle fit.
