Even as an Eagles fan with huge bias, I can’t stand Kane Cornes… but Luke Darcy can not say stuff like that (even though all my sympathy is with Darce and Doggy fans… because Kane has been relentless against Luke Beveridge) I deeply feel for Luke, he has to put up with Cornesy saying "It was a mistake to re-sign him, but they've made their bed and they can lie in it,"… but even though that kind of crap hits close to home… as a journalist Luke can not accuse Kane of deliberately exaggerating stories to fraudulently get money under false pretences. So even though I loved what Luke said as a bias Eagles fan… he violated journalistic ethics here.

Bahaha, we need no win for Kane as he surely goes down as one of the biggest chokers, partaking in arguably the biggest choking team of the new millennium in Port. Two minors in a row just get not even close and when they get one in 2004 barely made the eight the next year. He’s been getting payback for all the critics whilst he was playing. Should have had so many more premierships if they (he) could play the pressure of finals.

Yeh Im a Perth boy am a miserable Eagles fan (we are absolutely terrible, don’t remind us 😂), but when Port started as an AFL club I absolutely loved them. I thought the team had so much flair… I kind of saw them as a “South Australian Eagles”… I related to that because they had success very quickly and other teams were jealous of their quick development so I was like “They are kind of like us!!” That old team of Tredrea, Primus, Josh Francou, Wangas after he left the Dons and went back home, I actually loved the Cornes brothers as footballers. I look at that old team and loved those guys But then Kane Cornes because a journalist lol. They are now my 18th “favourite” side (while the Pies moved up to a very comfortable 17th).

Also I think the thing with Kane is that he is very resentful about a lot of stuff and projects it out onto teams based on his past experiences (this is only just my opinion and theory) He is extremely harsh to coaches because he was very close mates to Matt Primus and when Primus got sacked as coach in 2012, i feel that must have formed his beliefs of being brutal to coaches that he feels have been there too long. Biggest Example: our coach Simmo lol…. I agree on paper Simmo should not continue to be our coach to any non-Eagles fan… I get it, but we still support him… so Kane has still not let go of carrying the pain of Primus (and Primus is a good dude, that sacking must have been brutal on the Port players to go through) So every year when I hear Kane argue to sack 8-10 AFL different coaches a year… it doesn’t come out of thin air… it’s his past resentment. Some of us have past resentments, I still resent Leo Barry taking that amazing grab!! 😂…. But Kanes resentment has not gone away which is why I feel he still harbours that unapologetic harshness

Sorry, but Luke was spot on - mental welfare of young kids I believe is paramount - the media scrutiny of the game at times is beyond a joke. We’ve followed the English Press, and that’s certainly no compliment.
