Been two years since Peter Sterling retired from his broadcast role @nines wwos. From being one of the NRL's best halfbacks of the 1980s with the Parramatta Eels to being one of the best commentators and had an unbiased opinion of every team in the comp including the very club he played for and was a one club player. I've heard many funny moments of Peter Sterling in commentary during a Friday night game or a Sunday afternoon game. Great sense of humour and was very professional in discussing serious topics within the NRL. Never disrespected anyone he worked with and never said a bad thing about anyone. Gave his opinions respectfully and always respected other people's varying opinions even if he didn't agree with that particular person's opinion. I admired sterlo for everything he was and still is when listening and watching sterlo give his expert opinion of the game on TV. Sterlo, like a lot of great men of the NRL never went looking for accolades and was always humble. Watching and listening to sterlo in commentary has influenced in my opinion of such a great bloke. I miss hearing his voice in commentary and miss hearing his expert opinion of the great game of rugby league. Hope sterlo is enjoying his retirement and whatever he does in life.

Sterlo said it.... Alot of us grew up watching footy show. Begging our parents to let us watch the reruns and man, with Fatty, their commentaries gave us an appreciation of the game to the point that hours of discussion would ensue the day after. Thank you Peter Sterling. You're truly a legend

I remember buying Sterlo a beer at the SCG hill back when he first became a regular first grader. I was impressed with what a fine young man he was. 40 years later he's never done anything to change that opinion.

I'm a massive Manly fan, and therefore of course I don't generally like anything to do with Parramatta, but you gotta agree that this guy is all class, both as a former star of the game, and also for his complete professionalism in front of the cameras. Well played, Sterlo!

The reason I watch channel 9 and footy show is because of Sterlo and Fatty. Every Thursday Nights in PNG, we had to stay up to watch Footy Show and next morning in school, a discussion session at recess about the show. Wonderful memories growing up. Thank you Sterlo, your voice and analysis of the game will be missed. Happy Retirement.

What a loss! Respectful, unbiased, humble and self deprecating which is such a refreshing take on being a media personality. He represents the positive end of the spectrum which saddens me greatly because we are now left with having to tolerate the incompetent fools and selfish whiners on that other show featuring Buzz light year (to infinity and beyond…..please!!) and his Superman friend, Clark Kent (can someone find some Kryptonite to put him to sleep for a while). Fantastic work Sterlo. I’m not a Parra fan but I feel like I want to support them now!!!

No truer champion on and off the field, Sterlo is nothing short of true legend of the game (and agreed, his name should be high on the ranks as an Immortal), and he will be sorely missed throughout the commentary world calling the games in a non bias way, and as a host of the WWOS, good luck for everything the future holds for you Sterlo, it's been nothing but a pleasure to watch you having played, and commentate and host weekly on WWOS throughout the years!!!!!
