Same! Me and my husband actually went to nationals in Nashville last year , just to watch him and Jason Brown. Had to take a week off from work, turned out to be pretty expensive, but was worth every )) P.S. My husband didn’t watch figure skating at all, but now he is a fan, thanks to Nathan Chen )

Wishing yururu hanyu the best of luck of his retirement as the GOAT in figure skating, Nathen Chen just won the gold medal 🥇 in Beijing Winter Olympic games, but right now he need to focus on his studies in college and graduated including spending time with his family and making friends.

Hold on hold on... To be fair, it is NOT okay to ask who will take Nathan's place and suggest Yuzuru Hanyu. Did you sleep under a rock? Yuzuru Hanyu has built himself a legacy - there is a place now Nathan could take. Not the other way round

Hanyu came first and is old. Nathan is getting old and fading away so it should be some skaters who are much younger to take their place.

You mean Ilia Malinin? He was 2nd at nationals last year,,but the decision made was to send Jason Brown to Beijing instead, Ilia didn’t qualify for the US team due to “ lack of senior portfolio”. But he did win Junior Worlds with a record score. And currently Malinin is the first and ONLY skater to land quad axel in competition 😊

Nathan had a major hip injury to his right leg in 2016 after the U.S. Nationals due to all his quad jump training and performances. The thigh muscle detached from the ASIS (anterior superior iliac spine) and took a section of bone with it from his hip. Following surgery, he was off the ice for five months while recovering and having physical therapy. And this is just one of the injuries he's had. Nathan also is finishing his degree at Yale, to graduate in 2024, and he chose to step away from skating competition until then.

Well, Nathan is not just a champion, he won every competition after PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Currently holding records in both Short program and Free Skate.
