I wonder if that might have been part of the problem….he was so very compassionate! Sometimes maybe it’s difficult to be that sensitive, not that it’s negative or he’s TOO compassionate, but I wonder if it hurts sometimes. When he died I thought of those lines in Don McLean’s song, “Vincent :” ‘And when no hope was left in sight On that starry, starry night You took your life, as lovers often do But I could've told you, Vincent This world was never meant for One as beautiful as you.’

@@tjplaine I've been thinking about this for a bit, and yeah I've landed on the side of 'it was intentional', because Oprah was just a few seasons off from being one of those dime-a-dozen, salacious daytime talk shows. But even though she did a master class in how to separate yourself from the pack, it was still a product of it's time, when it was still dangerous for your career to come out. It lost Ellen a TV show. Nathan found his brave eventually .. on his own time. She shouldn't have tried to include herself in that decision.

@@AnaisWolf correct me if I’m wrong, but hadn’t he also had open heart surgery at some point towards the end of his years? I only remember this because after he’d died, a friend of mine was discussing that fact, and that for a LOT of people (but men in particular) having open heart surgery sends them into an extremely bad depression. Has something to do with the vulnerability of someone literally having your heart in their hands, I suppose. Either way, Robin was a bright flame in a dark storm. Don't apologise. You're right and most of us know it. Especially after seeing her attempt to destroy the Royal Family for ratings.

I love Nathan's glasses in this clip! The whole cast of The Birdcage was perfect! Gene Hackman, Robin, Nathan, Calista, Dianne Wiest, Christine Baranski, Dan Futterman, & OMG Hank Azaria!! So much fun. Still love watching this film.

I freaking miss Robin so much. We really lost a beautiful human when he left us. I don't think he knew just how much we love and needed him. 💜

Aguiliar Spartacus may have been my favorite part. Or maybe the part where Robin was trying to teach Nathan to "walk like a man".

To this day, I couldn’t bring myself to watch any of Robin Williams’ films. Even if it’s comedy, I’d still feel sad knowing now what he was going through behind the camera 😔
