East Farleigh Level Crossing

Queues across that bridge have always been a problem. That line was due to be taken under the control of the signalling centre at Gillingham in 2016 under Phase 2 of the East Kent re-signalling scheme. However that didn't happen due to a number of reasons, and it's not known now when that's likely to happen, but it doesn't look like it's going to be in the near future. As a result the crossing in its current form is likely to remain for some time.

I believe the crossing will be refurbished with barriers replacing the gates in the next couple of months

I'm glad this crossing has these lights, especially with no alarms! Even though I like these old gates, new automatic barriers should be installed, with these old gates being preserved!

Same when I visited. The one-way bridge causes a complete mess of queues. They do need something like traffic signals which not only control the bridge but control the new upgraded level crossing too. Still, at least the crossings protected.
